Joey Valence & Brae drop new single ‘THE BADDEST’ + announce new album ‘NO HANDS’

Joey Valence & Brae have dropped anthemic new single/video, ‘THE BADDEST’. The larger-than-life duo have also announced details of a brand new project, NO HANDS, set to follow this summer. Fresh from a completely sold out US tour, JV&B have been invited to tour with Sum 41 across arenas this summer, with festival further dates across the summer (more live news to follow soon).

Tongue-in-cheek but totally undeniable, ‘THE BADDEST’ sees Joey Valence & Brae harness body-quaking Miami Bass, the rallying cries of Fatman Scoop and the project’s sense of shooting your shot alongside a video in which the noughties MTV club-banger is reimagined in a ramshackle house party. “THE BADDEST’ is literally just chaos and energy filled to the brim,” the boys comment. “It’s one of our favourite songs from the album and will surely make an insane live song for us. If you don’t feel like a bad bitch listening to this song, you’re doing something incredibly wrong.”

Over the last couple of years, Joey Valence & Bre have gone from college kids to DIY sensations, with 200+ million streams, 1.3 million social followers, and sold-out headline tours around the world (all 100% independently). Debut project PUNK TACTICS was a smash and grab collision of 90s hip-hop, drum n bass, and frenetic circle-pit energy: meanwhile, their online antics have helped build a diverse, dedicated fanbase as inclusive of punk kids, or metalheads as it is rap and pop culture stans alike. NO HANDS, however, is without doubt a level-up, and an irresistible statement of intent: “it’s a reflection of what we’ve built over the past three years, and here’s who we are,” says Brae, the pair revelling in being the ones calling the shots. “It’s important for our fans to be like, these two kids built this on their own, and you can do the same exact thing,” adds Joey. “You don’t have to try and act cool: just be yourself and that’s cool as shit.”

Like all the best buddy movies, Joey and Brae’s meet-cute began at a Red Lobster: they were hanging with mutual friends Freshman year at Penn State, and connected as fellow misfits but also, equal music obsessives. Finding common ground everywhere from Wu Tang to The Prodigy and Charli XCX, JV&B’s collective taste is omnivorous and genre-agnostic, with humour, energy and a positive attitude quickly cementing their partnership. The boys began teasing original music from their dorms on TikTok, with viral single ‘Double Jump’ introducing a scrappy, DIY visual aesthetic which was introduced across PUNK TACTICS and is refined further on NO HANDS. The album was recorded in just a month, going harder but also digging deeper into what Joey Valence & Brae are all about (“look Ma, no hands”).
