JOSHUA DOBBS NAMED NFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Vikings QB Joshua Dobbs has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, the NFL announced.

Dobbs, who was acquired via trade from the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 31, filled in for his first appearance as a Viking after QB Jaren Hall left the game at Atlanta with an injury in the first quarter. The seventh-year pro threw for 158 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions and ran for a career-high 66 yards and a touchdown, becoming the first player in NFL history to have three total touchdowns in back-to-back weeks with two different teams after scoring three in Week 8 with Arizona.

The Alpharetta, Georgia, native helped engineer a game-winning, 75-yard drive, connecting with WR Brandon Powell on a six-yard touchdown pass with :22 seconds left to secure a 31-28 win over the Falcons, the team’s fourth consecutive win, the longest active win streak in the NFC.

This award is the third NFC Player of the Week honor for the Vikings in 2023 and the third within the last four weeks. It also marks the 10th NFC Player of the Week award under Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell, tied for the second most in the NFL since the start of the 2022 season with the Buffalo Bills and trailing only the Philadelphia Eagles (14). Since the start of the last season, nine different Vikings players have earned a Player of the Week award, tied with Philadelphia for the most in the NFL.
