Kevin Gates in Atlanta at the Coca-Cola Roxy with Rod Wave & SDOT

Kevin Jerome Gilyard better known as Kevin Gates a 33-year-old Rapper, singer and entrepreneur from Baton Rouge, Louisiana is one of the souths most loved rappers. As he set out on his tour for the IM HIM album that dropped on September 27th of 2019. The Baton Rouge rapper came to show out in the fastest growing state of Atlanta and did so at the Coca-Cola Roxy which holds up to 3,600 people and for this show and it was a full house. Every person eager and ready see to him preform.

The show opened with Chicago native rapper SDOT Fresh who came to promote his latest album PM Vibez. His performance definitely won over a few fans from the audience. 

Shortly after the rising star Rod Wave blessed the stage with his soulful taste of Hip Hop. The St. Petersburg rapper who the Rolling Stone has praised for” singing like an angel and rapping like a demon”, went on to serenade fans with songs from his recently dropped project Ghetto Gospel. Rod Wave had the crowd singing along and everyone was at attention.

After Rod Wave preformed there was a slight silence of music throughout the venue and people began to become anxious. As tension began to rise and a fight broke out people were beyond eager to see the man of the hour come out, and right before the everyone became restless… BOOM!

Kevin Gates appeared and immediately the crowd was going crazy for Kevin to do what he came for. Kevin proceeded to do what he does best which is stun a crowd. The 33-year-old father of two even brought his lovely daughter Islah on stage who knew every word of her father’s music.

In fact, everyone in attendance were mouthing their lips to every word and dancing to every beat and Kevin was right there with them. After the first song Kevin took a break to thank the crowd for coming out and to also say a few words. Gates explained how he was severely under the weather and admitted to the hospital where he was told not to perform. He said” I couldn’t miss this even if I die”. Kevin then lead a prayer for the concert-goers and then delivered a truly moving and outstanding performance. Gates performed his single “Push it” from the album and the crowd responded amazingly and made it the staple of the night.
