Lola Young Boldly Releases Captivating New Album ‘This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway’ via Island Records
LOLA YOUNG’S NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR KICKS OFF THIS SEPTEMBER

South London’s singer/songwriter Lola Young has unveiled her eagerly awaited album, This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway, under the banner of Island Records. This modern break-up album encapsulates the essence of youthful romantic turmoil. Lola’s new full-length album features previously released singles such as “Messy”, which debuted as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1, “Fuck”, “Big Brown Eyes”, “Intrusive Thoughts”, “Wish You Were Dead”, and “Conceited”.
This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway marks a progression in Lola’s musical journey, following her 2023 project, My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by her friend and collaborator Solomonophic (Remi Wolf, BROCKHAMPTON, Dominic Fike), the album’s eleven tracks present a multifaceted, audacious concept. Lola’s album, as unexpected as it is irresistible, is brimming with dynamic energy and lyrically driven by rage, passion, narrative prowess, and comedic scorn.
Through her enthralling filmed content and straightforward approach, Lola has garnered a new fan base spanning both sides of the Atlantic, including notable figures like Snoop Dogg, Tyler, The Creator, Ty Dolla $ign, Offset, Michael Stipe, Little Simz, and Lily Allen.
This September, Lola will return to North America to commemorate the release of This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway with a series of 18 headline shows. Her upcoming fall tour will see her perform at esteemed venues such as New York City’s Webster Hall, Nashville’s EXIT/IN, San Francisco’s The Fillmore, Los Angeles’ The Bellwether, and Seattle’s Showbox. Lola is also slated to perform at Lollapalooza, Osheaga Festival, and All Things Go Festival in North America, with additional festival appearances at Haldern Pop Festival, Skandaløs Festival, Blud Fest, and All Points East in Europe this summer. Alongside her North American headline tour, Lola will also bring her electrifying live show across the United Kingdom and Europe this December and into 2025. Full tour details can be found below, and tickets for all of Lola’s upcoming live dates can be found HERE.
Born to a professional bass-playing father and a music-loving mother in South London, Lola was introduced to music at a tender age. She pursued various lessons, including piano, guitar, and singing, and eventually attended the BRIT School, renowned for nurturing iconic artists like Adele, Amy Winehouse, King Krule, and many more. Last year, Lola released her aforementioned album, My Mind Wanders and Sometimes Leaves Completely, which includes the hit song “Don’t Hate Me”. Rolling Stone recently spotlighted Lola as an artist to watch in 2024, describing her sound as “a unique fusion of post-punk, soul, and low-fi pop.”
