MAN WITH A MISSION Releases “Firestarter,” Opening Theme for TV Anime THE VERMILION MASK, Digitally October 11th

MAN WITH A MISSION have announced that their new song “Firestarter” will be released digitally on October 11 at 12:00 AM JST.

“Firestarter” serves as the opening theme for the TV anime THE VERMILION MASK, which begins airing nationwide in Japan on the Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV networks on October 10.

THE VERMILION MASK is a mask-battle fantasy series currently serialized in Shonengahosha’s Young King OURS, based on the original story by Dr.Poro with manga by Nabana Naba. The story follows Peru, a young man who, while under the control of the “Mask of the War God,” killed his companions and mentor. Forced to confront the weight of his actions, he embarks on a journey to destroy the mysterious masks scattered across the world, each of which grants its wearer extraordinary powers.

Ahead of the anime’s premiere, the second main promotional video was released, featuring a preview of “Firestarter.” Powerful and energetic, the track feels like a rallying cry for the characters as they confront their harsh destinies. Following the release of the video, fans shared their excitement with comments such as, “A new anime theme song from MAN WITH A MISSION! Can’t wait!” and “MWAM sounds so cool.” International viewers have also responded enthusiastically, with comments including, “This anime looks like it’s going to be amazing,” reflecting growing anticipation both in Japan and overseas ahead of the series premiere.

“Firestarter” will also be released as a CD single on October 28. Alongside the announcement, the band have unveiled the single’s latest artwork, featuring a striking image of Tokyo Tanaka.

The title track was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, one of the world’s most renowned mixing engineers, whose credits include Green Day, Madonna, My Chemical Romance, and numerous other global artists. With a career spanning more than three decades at the forefront of the music industry, Lord-Alge brings an even more powerful edge to what is set to become a new rock anthem for MAN WITH A MISSION.

Continuing a tradition of MAN WITH A MISSION singles, the release will also feature a remix track. This time, “Kizuna no Kiseki,” one of the band’s biggest hits in recent years, has been reimagined by acclaimed composer Hiroyuki Sawano as “Kizuna no Kiseki – Hiroyuki Sawano REMIX.”

The Limited Edition will include a DVD featuring the band’s signature “Mission Movie.” Meanwhile, the Limited-Period Edition will feature newly illustrated cover artwork by THE VERMILION MASK manga artist Nabana Naba, marking a new collaboration between MAN WITH A MISSION and the anime series. Its accompanying DVD will also include a specially edited THE VERMILION MASK Special Movie set to the song.

With the premiere of THE VERMILION MASK, the full force of “Firestarter” is finally set to be revealed. Be sure to check out the digital release from 12:00 AM JST, followed by the CD single on October 28.
