Manchester Trio Bank Holiday Make Bold Entrance With Debut Single ‘Out Of The Blue’
Fresh from their recent tour with Jamie Webster, Manchester-based indie trio Bank Holiday drop the radiant debut single ‘Out Of The Blue’ (27th May), a bold and confident introduction to the new project.
Showcasing sharp songwriting and a natural instinct for melody, ‘Out Of The Blue’ brings a bright, high energy guitar led backdrop, punchy drums and grounding bass to create a soundscape which reflects the band’s love for 90s alt-rock. Topped with effortless infectious melodies and tongue-in-cheek lyricism which plays on stereotypical sayings, the track captures the energy and immediacy of the band, showcasing a playful identity, ultimately sounding confident and strikingly fully formed.
Speaking about the debut, lead singer Mac McCartney explains: “Out of the Blue’ came from an idea me and Luke had about trying to fit as many well known sayings and idioms into one song as we could. It started off as a bit of a challenge, but it ended up shaping the whole track. Luke Owens, our guitarist, records all of our stuff in his studio himself, which gave us the freedom to experiment with the track over the course of a few months and also to keep it feeling natural. It’s a song about unpredictability really, how things can change when you least expect it, but also very open ended at the same time.”
Formed out of long-standing friendships and a chance alignment in timing, the band came together at a turning point, each member stepping away from other projects at the same time and finding something new in the process. The band have cut their teeth in previous projects, building a list of achievements along the way, including having songs played on Radio X, Sirius XM, songs featured on BT Sports Champions League, and in British Airways flights as well as sync on BBC’s Waterloo Road.
Having already taken early steps onto bigger stages, the band played their first shows as part of an acoustic tour with Jamie Webster, building momentum and connecting with audiences across the North West.
