KURU SHARES TWO NEW SINGLES “SOMEWHERE GOING HOME” AND “I CLDNT LIE” – VIA DEADAIR

Ahead of his performance tonight with jackzebra at UCLA’s Sigma Pi Fraternity, kuru, the 19-year-old NYC-based rapper and producer, has just shared two new singles, “Somewhere going home” and “I cldnt lie” — out now via deadAir.

Highlighted by his slipstream flow, “Somewhere going home” is a hypnotic outing backed by a dizzying beat, while the ethereal “I cldnt lie” serves as a poignant display of the rapper’s sharp songwriting abilities. The tracks arrive on the heels of March singles “zzzz”, which was produced by blxty, as well as the twikipedia-produced “I saw it coming”, in addition to his recent collaboration with Chinese rapper jackzebra on the celestial, cross-continental link-up “wakeup” and his show with Frost Children and Oklou in January.

Hailing from Maryland, kuru made a name for himself while still in high school as an internet rap pioneer, fusing pop maximalist sensibilities with elements of trap, electronic, and dance. He garnered attention in the underground for a prolific output of solo music and his work with xaviersobased (who he collaborated with on buzzy track “MyAll” from his keep it goin xav tape), ian, FearDorian, Hi-C, and quinn, before releasing his debut full-length project, re:wired, in November 2024 through deadAir (Jane Remover). A conceptual piece that blended DMV trap, anime, and high fashion into one cohesive aesthetic, the tape earned a 7.1 rating from Pitchfork, who hailed it as “a panic room crammed with miseries, victories, betrayals, realizations, and music so dreamy it somehow sounds idyllic.
