MONTELL FISH RELEASES NEST EP
Multi-disciplinary creative force Montell Fish shares latest EP NEST in full alongside an arresting video directed by Caleb Wild and Fish himself for the title track. The new EP showcases Fish’s affinity for atmospheric soundscapes and production choices weighted with poignancy and nuance, all tethered together with his gently probing falsetto. The four tracks (released on his own Jamie Charlotte Marshall label), sequenced like one long song with four distinct movements, represent a fully realized vision that initially came to life as Fish wandered the liminal green spaces of his Brooklyn neighborhood with ambient legends like Brian Eno in his headphones. While Fish’s music has always maintained a degree of cinema and ethereal beauty, NEST explores this new realm of possibility with a tenderness that can only be found in the comfort of home. The video for “NEST” is a moving visual accompaniment starring Adepero Oduye and focusing the lens on the deep tie between a mother and son searching for their own place to land–a perfect amalgamation of Fish’s keen eye for storytelling and setting, the latter of which are a constant creative influence and fixation in Fish’s process. The EP, with production assists from Buddy Ross and on “Forever,” which features Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Jim-E Stack, displays some of his most ambitious vocal work yet, and refracted throughout the textural nature of these hypnagogic constructions is a spirituality that runs anew.

Fish’s expansive universe continues to accelerate, with his debut this past year as a film composer on Brian Tetsuro Ivie’s critically-praised narrative feature Anima (premiered at SXSW), alongside executive-producing and releasing a short film directed by Caleb Wild. All of these endeavors remain under the umbrella of Jamie Charlotte Marshall, the label, brand and creative company he founded to encompass his music, fashion and film work, which includes a newly-launched clothing arm called “Rebirth” and the reissue of breakthrough-debut JAMIE on limited vinyl with a run of new merch. NEST’S release will also be marked with the return of a talk series he launched during the CHARLOTTE rollout, where he’s hosted incisive and in-depth conversations on art, life, and progress with peers and artists Omar Apollo, Daniel Caesar, and Lil Yachty, and will culminate in an international tour that kicks off at the Ford in Los Angeles on October 27th. His first new music since the release of “Love You Right” with Clara La Sun, and The Spirit Still Remains, a fall 2025 project from his electronic alter ego dj gummy bear, NEST is yet another portal of ambitious discovery that is channeled throughout Fish’s many pursuits, ever-broadening the scope of humanity that can be traced throughout his work.
