MORRISSEY ANNOUNCES “KERCHING KERCHING” AND “ZOOM ZOOM THE LITTLE BOY” 7” VINYL SINGLES AND EXCLUSIVE B-SIDES SET
MORRISSEY, one of the most beloved and influential artists of all time, officially announces a pair of single releases set to expand the footprint of his recent album MAKE-UP IS A LIE, out now via Sire / Warner Records. Each single will arrive alongside a previously unreleased B-side from the MAKE-UP IS A LIE album sessions. Both releases will be made available on limited edition 7” black vinyl on October 16, via Sire/ Warner Records. The previously unreleased B-sides, “Isle of Dogs” and “Without Music The World Dies,” will also be available on all DSP’s on October 16.
The greed-skewering “Kerching Kerching” is backed with “Isle of Dogs,” co-written by MORRISSEY and Alain Whyte. The archival sleeve photograph, seen above, was taken by Jake Walters. A video for “Kerching Kerching” will be released on the same date.
Pro-animal anthem “Zoom Zoom the Little Boy” backed with live favorite “Without Music The World Dies,” co-written by MORRISSEY and Gustavo Manzur, with a vintage cover shot by Tina Dehghani. Pre-order both HERE. The video for “Zoom Zoom the Little Boy” will follow on November 13.
The news arrives hot on the heels of a pair of stateside festival appearances. MORRISSEY delighted fans by playing Chicago’s Riot Fest and headlining New York City’s CBGB Festival, both in September. On October 15, he launches a U.S. headlining tour that includes topping the bill at the Darker Waves festival in Huntington Beach, CA, on November 14. In December, he returns to Europe and the U.K. Dates below.
MORRISSEY’s 14th solo studio album, MAKE-UP IS A LIE, arrived in March, launching the trip-hop infused single “Make-up is a Lie” and live fan-favorite “The Monsters of Pig Alley.” Upon release, the dynamic song cycle hit #3 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming MORRISSEY’s 16th Top 10 solo album on the English tally (which includes compilations) and his 26th Top 10 album overall when including his work leading The Smiths. MOJO Magazine called the album, “His most convincing howl for ages.”
MAKE-UP IS A LIE reunited MORRISSEY with producer Joe Chiccarelli (The Strokes, Weezer, The White Stripes, My Morning Jacket) as he returned to Studio La Fabrique in the Saint-Rémy-de-Provence region of Southern France. With poetic and provocative lyrics, evocatively unpredictable instrumentation, and a title that reads as a call for unvarnished truth and expression, the LP confirms MORRISSEY’s status as one of the most acclaimed and compelling voices in all of music for over four decades running.
In June, MORRISSEY followed up with the DELUXE NOTRE-DAME EP, spotlighting album standout “Notre-Dame” alongside three complementary B-sides: “Notre-Dame (Orchestrated Version),” the swirling psychedelic “Hello Hell,” and disco-rock cut “Happy New Tears.” Across all MAKE-UP IS A LIE era releases, MORRISSEY is joined by a familiar cast of collaborators and bandmates, including Jesse Tobias, Camila Grey, Carmen Vandenberg, Juan Galeano, Brendan Buckley, Whyte, and Manzur.
