Multiplatinum artist, producer and entrepreneur, Mustard (née Dijon McFarland) drops “Pure Water” with Migos, today on Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1. The hypnotic new single (10 Summers/Interscope Records) is now available worldwide on all digital platforms. Listen to “Pure Water” HERE.
“It sounds like a party,” describes the affable 10 Summers label head. “And I’m not saying like a down South party or a Trap party. It’s like Migos coming to L.A. and having a house party here.”
Mustard admits it was not easy to get all three members of the Atlanta-based super group on the track. “I was calling their phones everyday,” he chuckles remembering all the runaround. “But at this point in my life it’s not about the ego. I don’t care how many times I have to call because nobody’s going to look at you as the guy who called a million times if you deliver a hit.”
2018 was monumental for the 28-year old South Los Angeles native. The first artist he signed to his label, UK singer-songwriter Ella Mai, unwittingly catapulted to the top of the mainstream charts and made history with the Mustard-produced smash “Boo’d Up.” The dynamic duo was rewarded for their efforts with two Grammy nominations: “Song of the Year” and “Best R&B Song.”
Never one to stray far from his DJ roots, Mustard resumes his exclusive residency at Marquee in Las Vegas, headlining the TAO Group’s 60,000 square foot, award-winning mega club located inside The Cosmopolitan. He mans the 40-foot LED DJ booth and projection stage at the nightclub and takes the party outside during spring and summer for Marquee Dayclub’s over-the-top pool parties.
