Surf7 Signs to 300 Entertainment, Releases Soulful New Single “WIDE AWAKE”
Entering a flow state when he stands behind a mic, Philadelphia’s Surf7 has bars for days. After a red hot summer with viral hits and a burgeoning reputation as Philly’s best young rapper, Surf7 officially announces that he has signed to 300 Entertainment, marking the culmination of his breakout year.
As he starts a new chapter of his career, the young Philadelphia native keeps his streak going with “WIDE AWAKE,” his soulful and densely lyrical new banger. Layering a mournful horn fanfare and funky guitar filigrees over thumping percussion, “WIDE AWAKE” is a showcase for Surf’s wavy flows, as he sits back in the track’s pocketpacking as many syllables as he can between 808 blasts: “Lovin’ the way I flow when I’m on the beat, I’m finally finding my lane/Bussin’ my wrists, I’m keepin’ it plain, mad cause we don’t do nothin’ the same,” he spits.
“WIDE AWAKE” is the latest glimpse of WHOVILLE, Surf7’s upcoming debut full-length, dropping on October 23rd via 300 Ent.. The upcoming project is home to Surf’s successful singles, including the smash hit t “GOOSE COAT.” One of the top viral rap hits of the summer, the song inspired a fast-spreading push-up trend, leading to more than 1 million TikTok creations and 5 million cross-platform streams. “GOOSE COAT” got another boost earlier this summer, when Philly’s own Meek Mill gave his stamp of approval and hopped on the remix (over 2 million total plays and 1.3 million YouTube views to date. Surf kept his run going with fiery singles including the ruminative “7AM in NY,” the fiery “FRM DA JETZ.” and the soulful “GET IN MODE.” Most recently, Surf released the fiery “SURGERY,” produced by Platinum producer Buddah Bless This Beat.
Recently featured in XXL’s The Break, Surf7 has become a frequent guest during tour stops from his peers: over the summer, he joined Loe Shimmy on stage during the Philadelphia stop of his tour, as the two artists ripped push-ups and performed “GOOSE COAT” in front of an energetic hometown crowd. More recently, Surf recently hopped onstage during shows by Babychiefdoit, Babyfxce E, and others. In September, Surf7 was a special guest on DDG’s Hit-A-Thon, making an impression with his energetic and verbose bars.
