On an already blazingly hot day in Dallas, Texas. The Rockstars in Nickelback brought the “Get Rollin” tour to the Dos Equis Pavilion. Along with him was Brantley Gilbert. This was a near sell out crowd. I didn’t see a seat in the house open and the lawn was as full as the eye could see. I didn’t really know what to expect. I have never been to a Nickelback show personally.

Before this night, I didn’t know who Brantley Gilbert was so I didn’t really know how to prepare for his set. I quickly found out he is your down to the bone, country rock. His mix of the new school/old school country and heavy rock was quite surprising. He did get to play a pretty long set. He started when the sun was still up and finished as it set. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for him to catch another show. I was highly impressed.

After Gilbert was the headliners. The one and only, Nickelback. I have been listening to Nickelback for a very long time. I would say close to the first album. They are your mix of hard rock and pretty ballads. If you have seen the original Spiderman movies you would definitely know 1 song by them called Hero.

Chad and the group were very animated to the crowd. After almost every song Chad would tell a story or at least banter with the band and crowd. It was a nice change of pace to most bands that just play their songs after songs.

He told one story about writing one of their hit songs “Far Away” in the parking lot of the Dos Equis Pavilion. I thought that was a pretty cool unknown fact. He said he hadn’t really ever told that story and that Dallas has a huge place in his heart. Along with writing that song in the parking lot. They were the opening band for 3 Doors Down at Trees even before that. They were nobodies at the time and they signed a contract that night outside of the Trees venue. Chad definitely loves to talk. I would highly recommend checking out Nickelback on this tour or the next one if this one isn’t doable. They do not disappoint.
