NIGERIAN ARTIST VICTONY RELEASES “SOWETO” FEATURING OMAH LAY
VICTONY ANNOUNCED AS SPECIAL GUEST ON REMA’S UPCOMING RAVE & ROSES NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter, Victony has released a new version of his hit single “Soweto” featuring fellow Nigerian musician Omah Lay. Listen to it here! This release follows “Soweto” with Don Toliver, Rema and Tempoe which was released on March 22, garnered nearly 10 million streams in its first week, and is currently climbing Spotify’s Viral 50 chart. The official music video has gained over 4.9M views. Combined, “Soweto” has over 205M global streams.
The original “Soweto” track is a beautiful collaboration between Victony and multi-platinum, diamond certified producer Tempoe (CKay, Omah Lay, Jason Derulo), which has amassed over 110 million streams to date. Victony also released a stunning music video for the track in October 2022, directed by Jyde Ajala, which has gained over 54 million views. “Soweto” is featured on his EP titled Outlaw, and was included on Rolling Stone’s top Afropop songs of 2022 list. On TikTok, the song has over 1 million streams and over 1 billion views across all videos.
Victony’s debut EP, Outlaw, released in May 2022 has over 300 million streams. The project release was a remarkable comeback for Victony given the near-death tragedy he experienced; in April 2021, Victony was involved in a car accident that almost claimed his legs and had him in a wheelchair for months. Victony managed to overcome this unthinkable setback, and released several widely acclaimed singles later that year including “Pray”, and the Mayorkun collab “Holy Father” (in Jan 2022). To date, Victony has over 128.4 million Apple Music streams, 88.5 million YouTube Music streams, 159 million Spotify streams with 4 million monthly listeners.
In addition to the release, Victony has been announced a special guest on Rema’s highly anticipated North American tour Rave and Roses.
