Today, singer, songwriter Noah Kahan surprises fans with a new EP, Cape Elizabeth, out now—listen HERE!

Returning to his hometown of Strafford, VT during quarantine, Kahan recorded and produced Cape Elizabeth where his music career began. He enlisted his friend, Phin Choukas, to co-produce the project, as they worked out of the Choukas family home where Noah “grew up making music in the same house, same vocal studio and with the same guitar.” Within six days and “without overthinking anything,” Kahan completed the five-track EP.

Noah began writing the focus track, “A Troubled Mind,” while he was still living in New York and enlisted his brother, Simon, to contribute backing vocals for the track. He says, “I started writing ‘A Troubled Mind’ in New York about my own head and what was going on. I wanted the lyrics to be clever because I was reading about feeling lost and completely misunderstood. I finished it when I got home. It encapsulates the consciousness of what’s going on right now and captures my day-to-day general anxiety.” See the full EP tracklisting below.

While writing and recording Cape Elizabeth during quarantine, Kahan also hosted not one, but two Instagram Live at-home festivals, “COUCH-ELLA” and “LOLLAPALONELINESS.” Beyond Noah personally headlining, the lineups featured artists like Sameer Gadhia of Young the Giant, JP Saxe, Quinn XCII, Chelsea Cutler, Alexander 23, Mt. Joy and more. The livestreams included performances and interviews between Kahan and the artists, giving fans a fun, light-hearted event during a challenging time.

Recently, Noah’s global smash hit, “Hurt Somebody” feat. Julia Michaels became Gold-Certified, as the song has amassed over 300 million global streams to date. The track is featured on his 2019 critically acclaimed album, Busyhead.
