Ready to heat up the summer, singer and songwriter Cil excitedly presents her dynamic new don’t hold me accountable EP available now on Warner Records.

She celebrates the arrival of this brand new body of work by unveiling a jaggedly playful and bitingly tongue-in-cheek music video for her new single “hot shit”. The track opens delicately as her jazz-y vocals swoon above soft piano. Claps pick up the pace, giving way to a bouncy refrain where she teases, “Ain’t you some hot shit, baby? Trust me, I can tell. I just love the way you only ever talk about yourself.” During the bridge, she flexes her range, going on to coo, “You ain’t that special, babe, I met a million of you.” It’s both sharply clever and stunningly catchy!

Cil will be performing on the “Celebration Stage” during WeHo PRIDE this Sunday, June 1st from 7:50 – 8:20pm. The Celebration Stage will be located at Santa Monica Blvd. and La Peer Drive, within the WeHo PRIDE Street Fair footprint. This event is free and open to the public! Next up she will play Summerfest in Milwaukee on Thursday, June 26. More dates will be announced soon!

The EP affirms Cil’s status as pop’s hottest newcomer. She teed up the project this spring with three dynamically varied releases – the pointed “you’re a liar, you love me,” girl-power singalong “loser,” and finally the self-affirming ballad “pretty years.” The project is rounded out with three new editions. On “forgot to be my lover,” the woozy groove swells towards a booming chorus as she declares, “We can’t even be friends, ‘cause baby, you forgot to be my lover!” Elsewhere, a throwback synth line sets the tone for “don’t pick up” as nineties freestyle drums kick the song into high gear. Strutting with R&B swagger, she comes to a revelation, “Turns out I don’t need medication. It was you and our situation.” The finale “rhythm of love” spotlights her voice once again. Over sparse production, her heavenly delivery teems with uncontainable emotion, and she exhales, “It makes me so sick to see you fall into the rhythm of love with somebody.”

Ultimately, don’t hold me accountable finds Cil firing on all cylinders. She delivers blunt lyrics with vitality and vulnerability all at once as she explores the turbulence of Gen Z romance, mental health, and practicing self-love. The record was made alongside producer and songwriter Evan Blair [Rosé, Benson Boone] and marks the true beginning for this artist to watch.
