IMPRINT Interview With The Talented Rapper Yung Mal

Originally from New Orleans rapper and songwriter Yung Mal, moved to Zone 6 in Atlanta, Georgia where he grew up and managed his way into the music industry. He started his career with friend and rapper Lil Quill, then under the tutelage of Gucci Mane gained some recognition making a name for himself and growing professionally, until Lil Quill was incarcerated in 2019. Then, the emerging artist knew he had to continue with the impulse and in August 2019 released his first solo album named Iceburg, a powerful initiation that featured great artists such as Gucci Mane, Gunna, Pi’erre Bourne, Lil Quill and more. The 25-year-old artist characterized by having a unique style and creative flows, has been making music since he was 13 and up to the moment he has released: 3 albums and 24 singles and EPs. Including his most recent release 1.5 Way Or No Way.

The Atlanta-based hip-hopper chatted with IMPRINT about his passion for music, his main artists inspiration and his latest project “1.5 Way or No Way” and the development of his own 1.5 Da Label. He talked, as well, of the shooting video experience of songs: “Walkin” featured Memphis’ rapper, Pooh Shiesty and “Wassup With Me” featured the well-known American rapper, G. Herbo, who Drake referred to as “the future”. As for his plans for this year and the next, he assured that he will be touring since he has many shows going on. Faithful to his relentless work ethic his message to the dream chasers and starters is to keep up the hard work. To close up the interview with his characteristic spark the rapper told us that the artist he is mostly listening on his playlists now is himself.
