Ralphie Choo shares new single “Amarillo Nena”

Rusia-IDK’s enigmatic ringleader Ralphie Choo returns to share his new single “Amarillo Nena”. A minimalist track carried by Ralphie’s soft vocals amidst tempered guitar chords and keys, the new song is an essential, honest introduction to the next chapter of Ralphie’s career and hones his artistry down to its exposed core.

He’s tinkered with this new approach to his sound over a period of profound self-discovery, letting the world in through a series of one-off singles released over the course of the past year, including “PIRRI”, where he debuted a bizarre new character in the music video, and the most recent pair of tracks “TENTACIÓN” and “ROCCO”. These songs remove any unnecessary artifice and lay his emotionality bare on the table with his intimate compositions and songwriting.

A lot has happened since the release of Ralphie’s groundbreaking debut album SUPERNOVA in 2023, the grandiosity of which was lauded by the likes of NPR, Pitchfork, Teen Vogue and The FADER. He collaborated with the likes of Rosalía (“Omega”), and pablopablo and Carín León (“Eso Que Tú Llamas Amor”), and played a number of shows including a historic hometown show at Movistar Arena in Madrid earlier this year. Most recently, Ralphie was regarded by Pigeons & Planes as one of the foremost innovators of this new vanguard of Spanish music, alongside the successes of his Rusia-IDK counterparts rusowsky, TRISTAN!, Mori, and Duna, and friends and collaborators like Judeline and Guitarricadelafuente.

Since SUPERNOVA, Ralphie has undergone three years of searching, of an emotional journey, and of an almost obsessive level of dedication placed entirely at the service of the music. The process took as long as it needed to reach the right place: there was even a tour built around an album that still wasn’t finished. Now, finally, that album exists and “Amarillo Nena” opens this new chapter from one of Spain’s most accomplished and eccentric voices.
