In September, mehro released their new electrifying track “Lady Parts and Mannequins” alongside an accompanying video. This guitar heavy single marks a new creative direction from the genre bending artist who further showcases their ability to craft songs that scratch and pull at your emotions.

“This was the song I would look forward to playing most live because I knew we would shock our audience and give them something that they would always remember,” recalls mehro. “I don’t see myself as a genre artist, I want to give the listener what they least expect. ‘Lady Parts and Mannequins’ is another step into the unknown, another barrier of fear to break through.”

Created by Ontario-based artist Diane Lindo, the coinciding stop-motion animated video is a profound reflection of raw emotion, shaped by Lindo’s personal experiences and inner landscape. A recurring theme in her art is the importance of expressing and releasing emotions without shame or judgment, inviting viewers to connect with and confront their own feelings.

Earlier this year, mehro also released their thematically raw new album trauma lullabies on their mother’s birthday, which continues to receive praise; PAPER Magazine proclaims, “mehro’s moody melodies linger… [Their] music is confessional and tender, songs that tap into love, despair and everything in between,” while Ones To Watch furthers, “trauma lullabies’ nostalgic yet immediately inviting soundscapes supplement lyrics that take listeners through a layered emotional journey.”

Enveloped in music from childhood, mehro initially resisted a career as a musician. That changed when the then-teenager watched the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line. Inspired, they picked up a guitar that night and began learning “Folsom Prison Blues,” eventually beginning to write their own music. Since arriving with their debut single “perfume” in 2020, the singer-songwriter immediately caused ripples. The stripped-back love song has since garnered more than 73 million streams on Spotify alone and heralded mehro as one of 2023’s breakout artists. In March 2023, mehro released their acclaimed album Dark Corners and Alchemy.

Spring of 2022 saw mehro perform on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series and garnered praise from the likes of NPR’s All Songs Considered, FLOOD Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, FLAUNT Magazine, Wonderland Magazine, Under The Radar and more. In addition, mehro was featured as an artist to watch in GEN V (a new offshoot publication to V Magazine) while their mesmerizing shoot with Vestal Magazine is now live as well.
