RISING SINGER/SONGWRITER CHRISTIAN HAYES FINDS HIS PURPOSE ON HEART-POUNDING NEW SINGLE “SOMETHING TO LOSE”

Georgia-bred, folk/pop singer-songwriter Christian Hayes shares an all-new single called “Something To Lose”. An intimate reflection on finding your purpose in life, “Something To Lose” spotlights the buzzing artist’s talent for bringing larger-than-life energy and earworm-ready hooks to his bravely personal brand of singer/songwriter folk pop music.

Written by Hayes, Eric Arjes, and Nick Atkinson, “Something To Lose” dives even deeper into the straight-from-the-heart storytelling the 26-year-old musician has previously brought to songs like “LILY.” Hayes looks back on his life’s journey to date and comes away with a powerful clarity.

“‘Something To Lose’ is about finally finding something that means so much that losing it would really hurt,” Hayes explains. “I’ve spent my whole life running back to music — it’s what I’ve always felt I was born to do, and now that I’m making it happen I know that losing it would be devastating. With ‘Something To Lose,’ I wanted to keep the lyrics open-ended so that people can insert their own stories. It could be about a relationship, a job, your family, a pet — anything that feels essential to your life and to your happiness.”

As “Something To Lose” opens, bright strumming forms the backdrop to Hayes’ somber introspection (“It’s been 20 something years, wonder how much was wasted time/I’ve been reckless with my heart and I wrestled ’round my foolish mind”). With its rootsy but hard-hitting arrangement of acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, bass, and drums, the track takes on a soaring momentum at its heart-pounding chorus, just as Hayes reaches a powerful realization: “I got something to hold onto/And that’s something to lose.”Equal parts confessional and triumphant, the result is an undeniably resonant new offering from an artist on the rise.

Produced by Arjes (a producer/songwriter/engineer who’s worked with Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, and more), “Something To Lose” centers on an unforgettably soulful performance from Hayes — a gifted vocalist who’s caught the attention of outlets like Holler (who stated that “his songs feel like they’re being sung from the very deepest, darkest depths of his heart”). The follow-up to his pained yet potent ballad “Through It All” — a single about the utter importance of inner strength — the song is one of Hayes’ latest releases since signing with Capitol Records last September.

Born and raised in the foothills of Appalachia, Hayes hails from a long line of storytellers including his Grandpa Jack, a poet who encouraged him to start writing at seven-years-old. After finishing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve and attended the University of Alabama, eventually relocating to Nashville to launch his music career. Soon after inking his deal with Capitol, Hayes delivered his debut EP Last I Love You.

Hayes will be traveling the U.S., playing festivals this summer. See below for more info on upcoming live dates, and stay tuned for more new music from Hayes soon.
