Ryan Castro’s Global Hit “Quema” Recognized as One of the Most Played Latin Songs of the Year at the BMI Latin Music Awards
Colombian artist and songwriter Ryan Castro’s RIAA diamond-certified hit “Quema”, alongside Peso Pluma and SOG, has been recognized as one of the most played Latin songs of the year at the coveted BMI Latin Music Awards.
A standout track from Castro’s debut album El Cantante Del Ghetto, “Quema” made a significant mark on the industry, earning a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart while maintaining a strong presence on Spotify’s Top 200 for multiple weeks.
Released in the summer of 2023, “Quema” is a high-energy, old-school reggaetón anthem that continues to resonate with global audiences. Its undeniable impact has led the track to surpass half a billion combined streams across streaming services and won the award for Best Urban Mix at Premios Juventud in 2024. Since its release, “Quema” has remained a staple in the Latin urban genre, maintaining its relevance and influence, now leading to its recognition for one of the most played Latin songs of the year at the BMI Latin Music Awards.

This achievement comes on the heels of a remarkable start to the year for Castro, who continues to expand his influence beyond music. He recently made history as the first Colombian artist to acquire an equity stake in a professional basketball team, Paisas Basketball Club. Additionally, he is set to kick off the highly anticipated Mexico leg of his “Ay Bendito Ghetto” tour with Blessd in April, following the massive success of last year’s sold-out U.S. run, which saw him perform 15 arena and theater shows.
