Chart toppers Sammy Virji and Interplanetary Criminal reveal their sought-after new single, Damager, out on Astralwerks. “Damager” is for club use only: bouncing, donk-y speed garage collides with a choppy sample of the track “Just Begun” by East Coast rapper Apathy. The result is delicious reload-worthy rave chaos.

With over 6.3M+ combined monthly listeners on Spotify, award nominations and charted tracks including a #1 hit between them, Sammy Virji and Interplanetary Criminal have established themselves as two of the most in-demand names in dance music in 2024.

Sammy Virji has been one of the driving forces of the most recent wave of UKG, for around seven years. The London producer/DJ, nominated for DJ Mag’s Best Producer award in 2023, is an in-demand producer, whether it’s for brighter garage cuts like “Find My Way Home” (26M streams), screw-face belters like “Shella Verse” featuring Flowdan (13M streams), or synth-heavy bass house singles like “Summertime Blues” with Chris Lake and Nathan Nicholson. His catchy 2023 single “If U Need It” was arguably his biggest hit yet, now cruising towards 50M Spotify streams, reaching #85 on the UK Singles Chart.

This year has been massive for Sammy. In August, he played to his largest crowd yet—55,000 fans—at Chase & Status’ Milton Keynes Bowl takeover. He’s toured North America and the UK with his Isn’t It tour, played major UK dance festivals, and even joined Ben UFO, Chloé Robinson, and Four Tet under New York’s K-Bridge at the Four Tet & Friends event in May. Sammy also made his Boiler Room debut in Denver alongside Nikki Nair, Ahadadream, Hudson Mohawke and Doctor Jeep.

Manchester’s Interplanetary Criminal has become a certified hero of dance music, both to heads in the underground and to those in the mainstream. He’s known by many as the masterful producer behind “Baddest Of Them All (B.O.T.A)”, his 2022 single with Eliza Rose, which stayed at #1 on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, and stuck around in the charts for an impressive 46 weeks. To others, he’s a champion of the underground – a leading name in a new wave of UKG, a regular labels like Shall Not Fade, Conducta’s Kiwi Records and ATW Records and speed garage that’s hot on the lips of ravers not just in the UK, but around the world.

“Damager” is a long-awaited colossal collaboration between Sammy Virji and Interplanetary Criminal, two producers who are re-energizing garage music, spearheading a new movement of ravers, and proudly taking this UK-born genre to every corner of the globe.
