SIX MINNESOTA VIKINGS SELECTED TO THE 2025 NFL PRO BOWL GAMES

Six Minnesota Vikings have been selected by players, fans and coaches to the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games. QB Sam Darnold, LS Andrew DePaola, OLB Jonathan Greenard, WR Justin Jefferson, CB Byron Murphy Jr. and OLB Andrew Van Ginkel make up the team’s selections. DePaola, Greenard, Jefferson, Murphy and Van Ginkel were all voted starters.

The 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games marks the first career Pro Bowl for Darnold, Greenard, Murphy and Van Ginkel, the third selection for DePaola, and the fourth nod for Jefferson, who is just the seventh player in franchise history to be selected to the Pro Bowl in four of his first five seasons in the NFL. Greenard and Van Ginkel join DTs Pat Williams and Kevin Williams in 2007 as the only Vikings teammates to be selected Pro Bowl starters at the same position.

The six original Pro Bowl selections are the most for Minnesota since 2009 when the team had eight – Jared Allen, Heath Farwell, Brett Favre, Steve Hutchinson, Bryant McKinnie, Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice and Kevin Williams.

Additionally, seven Vikings were tabbed as alternates for the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games: FB C.J. Ham (first), C Garrett Bradbury (third), S Joshua Metellus (third), TE T.J. Hockenson (fourth), T Brian O’Neill (fourth), ST Trent Sherfield (fourth) and DL Harrison Phillips (sixth).

Darnold, who became the first QB in NFL history to record 14 wins in his first season with a team since at least 1950, leads the NFL with 13 games with a 100.0+ passer rating entering Week 18. His 13 games with a 100.0+ passer rating are one game shy of tying Aaron Rodgers’ single-season NFL record of 14 such games from 2020. Darnold ranks in the top five in passing yards (4,153, fourth), touchdown percentage (6.9%, fourth), passing touchdowns (35, fifth) and passer rating (106.4, fifth), and his 12 games with multiple touchdown passes are tied for the second-most games league wide.

DePaola, the only long snapper in team history to be selected to the Pro Bowl, hasearned his third-consecutive honor. He is the first long snapper in NFL history to be selected to the Pro Bowl in three-straight seasons (2022-24). A 2022 First-Team All-Pro honoree and 2023 Second-Team All-Pro selection, DePaola entered the league in 2014 and has played in 135 games, tallied 22 tackles and recovered a fumble.

In his first season in Minnesota in 2024, Greenard has recorded single-season career bests in tackles (54), tackles for loss (16), QB pressures (77) and forced fumbles (four). His 77 QB pressures per Pro Football Focus are the second most in the NFL entering Week 18, trailing only Myles Garrett (79 QB pressures). Greenard, who has 11 sacks on the season, the eighth most league wide, is one of two players with 11+ sacks and at least four forced fumbles (T.J. Watt). Greenard was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3 and the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, both were the first such accolades of his career.

Jefferson ranks second league wide in receiving yards with 1,479, tied for fifth in receiving touchdowns with 10 and seventh in receptions with 100, and his 14.8 yards per catch leads the league among players with at least 70 receptions. Jefferson has logged 80+ receiving yards in 12 games this season, three more than any other player in the NFL in 2024 and the most in a season since Cooper Kupp recorded 16 games with 80+ receiving yards in 2021.

Murphy, who became the first Vikings CB to record at least six interceptions in a season since Jimmy Hitchcock in 1998 (seven interceptions), is tied for third in the NFL in interceptions heading into the final week of the regular season. He has logged single-season career bests in tackles for loss (five), interceptions (six) and passes defensed (14), and his 14 passes defensed are tied for eighth league wide. Murphy is just one of two players with at least six interceptions and 14 passes defensed in 2024 (Marlon Humphrey).

Also in his first season with the Vikings in 2024, Van Ginkel has returned two interceptions for touchdowns, making him the only player with multiple pick-sixes this season. Van Ginkel, who is tied for third in the NFL with 17 tackles for loss and tied for fourth with 11.5 sacks, has recorded single-season career bests in both categories this season. He joined LB Jason Taylor in 2006 as the second player in NFL history since at least 1982 to have 11+ sacks and two interception-return touchdowns in a season.
