Steel Panther Thrusts Through Denver
Written By | Brandon Thrift

The glam metal legends, Steel Panther, brought their Sunset Strip Live tour to Denver, Colorado on January 19. The Fillmore Auditorium was invaded by girls wearing skimpy clothing and guys dressed in their freshest 80’s gear. Love Stallion provided support.

The band was started in the early 2000’s and since then has released 4 studio albums. They are known for their song themes that involve partying, sex, and rock & roll. All 4 original members were on stage for the Denver show which is Michael Starr (vocals), Satchel (guitar), Lexxi Foxx (bass), and Stix Zadinia (drums). You might think you were watching an 80’s cover band by the way they look and dress, but they are so much more. Not only do they have their own original songs they also cover some of the biggest hits from the 80’s. Kickstart My Heart (Motley Crue), Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne), Pour Some Sugar on Me (Def Leppard), and Livin’ on a Prayer (Bon Jovi) were among some of the covers the band cranked out to the rowdy audience.

Steel Panther’s original songs are part metal and part comedy usually dealing with sexual themes. While playing through their setlist they cracked jokes about bandmates. At one-point Satchel called Michael Starr a fat Vince Neil. The band also made jokes about members of the crowd. They would look at female attendees and tell them that they were going to do sexual acts on them. It leaves one to wonder of it’s an act or if these guys fully live the rock star glam band lifestyle.
Their sound was immaculate with Satchel leading the charge. During his guitar solo the rest of the band left the stage as he made his way to the drumkit. While he was belting out riffs from popular 80’s tracks he was also controlling the kick drum. It was a display of excellent musicianship.
The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the night of debauchery and metal. Death to all but metal!
