On September 7, 2026, Syd brought her Beard Tour to Amsterdam’s Melkweg, delivering a performance that highlighted both her artistic growth and the music that has made her one of the most respected voices in alternative R&B. Touring in support of Beard, her third solo album, which was released earlier this year, Syd arrived with a set that balanced new material with the fan favorites that have defined her career.

Before the show began, anticipation filled the venue. Melkweg’s intimate atmosphere proved to be the perfect setting for Syd’s understated yet magnetic stage presence. As the lights dimmed and the first notes echoed through the room, the crowd immediately responded, creating an energy that remained constant throughout the night.

Opening with tracks from Beard, Syd showcased the smooth production and reflective songwriting that characterize her latest era. Songs such as “Callin” and “Anytime” translated effortlessly to the live setting, allowing fans to experience the album’s themes in a more personal environment. Rather than relying on flashy production, Syd kept the focus on the music itself, letting her vocals carry each moment.

One of the strongest aspects of the performance was the way Syd celebrated her entire catalog. Long before becoming a solo artist, she first gained recognition through Odd Future and later as a founding member of The Internet, helping shape the sound of modern alternative R&B. Throughout the night, songs associated with some of her most beloved work, including “Girl,” “Come Over,” “Body,” and “Special Affair,” generated some of the loudest reactions from the audience. Fans sang along to nearly every word, proving the lasting impact of the music that established her reputation.

By the final stretch of the set, the entire room was fully engaged. The closing songs turned Melkweg into a massive singalong, bringing a memorable night to an emotional conclusion. Ultimately, Syd’s Amsterdam stop demonstrated exactly why she remains such an important figure in contemporary R&B. By combining the fresh perspective of Beard with the classics that built her loyal fan base, she delivered a performance that felt both nostalgic and forward-looking, leaving Amsterdam eager for her return.
