That Mexican OT Begins Road to ‘Sophie’s Son” With “Need That” Single and Music Video

With his slick-talking drawl and sly sense of humor, That Mexican OT has been putting on for Texas since the day he was born. Ready to serve up his next batch of syrup-fried Texas trap bangers, the 27-year-old artist shares “Need That,” his first new single since releasing his latest album Recess in Summer 2025. Produced by Tanaland, “Need That” lays a bed of funky organ and stuttering percussion as a runway off which OT can take flight. The rapper sinks his teeth into the beat, alternating halting, monosyllabic phrases with his signature doubletime patter as he works through his hierarchy of needs: “Put me in the trap house  with them dope boys Imma bleed that/Sophie told me treat money like water ’cause I need that,” he spits. Keep an eye out for the “Need That” music video, directed by OT’s regular collaborator, DGreen Filmz.

“Need That” is the first glimpse of Sophie’s Son, OT’s next album. Named after the rapper’s mother, who passed away when he was only 8-years-old, the upcoming album refines OT’s simmering Texas sound, mixing personal reflections with the party-positive and witty music for which OT is known. Stay tuned for more announcements about Sophie’s Son, arriving in the coming weeks via Capitol Records / GoodTalk / Good Money Global / Manifest.

Sophie’s Son arrives on the heels of Recess, OT’s 2025 album. Recess is home to singles like the Lil Wayne collaboration “Baby Mad At Me,” the twangy “Runnin,” and the South Texas collab “Accessories” ft. Peso Peso. Recently, OT dropped videos for Recess highlights like “Guidance” ft. Sauce Walka & Hogg Booma and “Serrio,” a Bankroll Got It-produced banger with a guest verse from Cali rapper YBE. Featuring additional guest spots from BigXThaPlugDenzel Curry, and more, Recess is available on all platforms via Capitol/GoodTalk/Good Money Global/Manifest.

OT performed songs from Recess earlier in February at his unique hybrid concert event, called Third Coast Bucking.  Presented by Hooked Up Productions, Third Coast Bucking was a full night of live music and rodeo action, featuring performances from some of the Lone Star State’s favorite artists, preceded by with top tier bullfighting and bullriding from top rodeo athletes (and enthusiastic amateurs, like OT himself). Following performances by Paul Wall and country star Braxton Keith OT closed out the night with his scintillating set, delivering highlights from his career and bringing up Johnny Dang during his namesake song.

A road warrior who performed more than 60 dates in 2025, OT is ready for his next round of shows. Last week, OT launched a short 9-date headlining tour in Texas and the Plains region. This spring, the Bay City, TX native joins Yelawolf and Prof on a tour throughout Canada and the Northern U.S. Tickets for OT’s shows are available at ThatMexicanOT.net
