A Night to Remember: Josh Ross’ Later Tonight Tour Stops at Toronto’s HISTORY
Written and Captured By | Kevin Nguyen
I just got back from Josh Ross’s Later Tonight Tour stop at History, and I’m still buzzing from the experience. There’s something really special about seeing a rising star live — someone who’s on the brink of big things but still has that approachable, humble energy. Josh Ross has that, and watching him perform felt like seeing a star in the making right before he takes over bigger stages.
Even before the show started, the room was electric. Boots were tapping, people were chatting and singing along to the pre-show music, and you could feel that everyone was there to celebrate both the music and the moment. It wasn’t just a concert — it felt like an event, especially considering that he had a sold-out show at Toronto’s Massey Hall just the night before.

The night kicked off with the opener, Chandler Walters, and he immediately set the bar high. Chandler has written some huge tracks, including “I Need Some Help,” an award-winning song for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen, and hearing it live — performed by the person behind it — added so much depth. He has a natural stage presence, strong vocals, and a storytelling style that draws you in. The crowd was instantly hooked, singing along and reacting to every line. By the time he finished, it felt like the perfect, high-energy country warm-up for the headliner, with the energy in the room already soaring.

When Josh Ross finally hit the stage, the reaction was incredible. The crowd erupted with applause, cheers, and singing before he even played a note. There was this real sense of hometown(ish) pride — Josh grew up in Burlington, and performing in Toronto clearly meant a lot to him. He mentioned how excited he was to be back in the area, and it didn’t feel like a rehearsed line — it felt genuine. That connection to the audience carried through the whole night.
From the very first songs, Josh commanded the stage. He tore through fan favorites like “Hate How You Look” and “Later Tonight,” and the crowd knew every word. His raspy, gritty voice is even more impressive live — raw and powerful, yet still controlled. The way he engages the audience — making eye contact, smiling, and sharing stories between songs — makes you feel like he’s singing just for you, even in a packed room.

What really stood out were the slower, more emotional songs. “Leave Me Too” and “Scared of Getting Sober” created intimate moments in the middle of an otherwise high-energy show. The lights softened, fans held up their phone flashlights, and everyone seemed to lean in just a little closer. Those songs gave the night a perfect balance — a chance to feel the emotion behind the lyrics while still enjoying the upbeat anthems that get everyone moving.
By the end, the room was buzzing, voices were hoarse, and smiles were everywhere. Watching Josh Ross live is more than just hearing great music — it’s seeing a rising Canadian country star fully coming into his own. He’s got the talent, the stage presence, and the heart to make a big impact, and Toronto got to witness it firsthand. Between Chandler Walters’ incredible opening set and Josh’s commanding, heartfelt performance, the night was a perfect reminder of why people are talking about him.
