That Mexican OT Shows Off His Bluesy Croon on “I Can’t” ft. OC Chris His Soulful New Single
That Mexican OT uses his swaggering Southern drawl and frayed melodies to create a melange of Texas sounds, incorporating the rap, country, blues, and tejano that reverberates through the air in his home state into his own mix. The Bay City, TX native shows off both his bluesy vocals and his rapidfire rhymes on “I Can’t”, his new single and music video. Produced by Tanaland, Shafer, and 1wmarcos, and featuring a guest verse from rising Texas artist OC Chris, “I Can’t” gets its power from scratchy Texas guitars, laying down blues licks for OT to adorn with his diamond-tough bars: “F*ckin with me you better take precaution/You keep moving stupid and it’s gonna cost ya/Scaring my son, baby say I’m a monster/But f*ck all the talking/I’ll rip out your tonsil,” he snarls.
In the video, directed by frequent collaborator DGreen Filmz, OT retreats deep into the desert, accompanied by a low-rider, a masked power trio of musicians, and a tricked-out hearse. OT performs his song before he is joined by OC Chris, and the two artists travel down the famous Route 66 to find a watering hole for the night.
“I Can’t” is the latest song to emerge from Cucuy, That Mexican OT’s next album, arriving this fall. Following in the wake of singles like “Water, “Need That,” and “Still Virgil,” Cucuy finds That Mexican OT flaunting his hedonistic impulses as he refines his rhyming and singing skills into sharp relief. Named after a boogeyman-like character in Tejano folklore, the album expands OT’s Texas-fried sound, mixing personal reflections with party anthems and infusing hip-hop, country, and Latin influences into his music Stay tuned for more announcements about Cucuy, arriving in the coming weeks via Capitol Records / GoodTalk / Good Money Global / Manifest.
