As part of their electrifying Parasites & Butterflies tour, the Nova Twins made a much-anticipated stop at Frannz Club in Berlin, delivering an evening of high-octane performances and genre-defying sound. The night promised an unforgettable experience for fans of alternative rock and punk-infused energy—and it certainly delivered
Kicking off the evening was the support act HotWax, an up-and-coming trio from the UK already generating considerable buzz in the alternative scene. Recently named a “Band to Watch” in 2024 by The Independent, HotWax brought their raw, untamed energy to the Berlin stage with confidence and conviction. From the very first chord, they filled the venue with an intense wall of sound—gritty guitars, thunderous drums, and an undeniably magnetic stage presence. While the venue was packed, it wasn’t uncomfortably so. Audience members still had enough space to move freely, dance, and engage with the music, which added to the intimate yet lively vibe of the evening. A few fans were already decked out in Nova Twins merchandise, clearly excited for what was to come.
HotWax’s performance was a mix of heavy rhythms and dynamic soundscapes that felt both nostalgic and refreshingly new. Their set was tight and relentless, keeping the crowd engaged and fully immersed in their sonic world. They did not falter in living up to the hype and left the audience more than warmed up—ready for the main event.
After HotWax exited the stage, a palpable sense of anticipation took over the room. The stage crew prepared for the Nova Twins’ arrival, and the atmosphere grew increasingly electric. A key visual element added to the anticipation: six towering white flowers were arranged across the stage, giving the setup a surreal, slightly dreamlike quality that contrasted sharply—but effectively—with the gritty nature of the band’s sound.
Eventually, the break music began to fade out, signaling that showtime had finally arrived. The crowd erupted in cheers as Amy Love and Georgia South—known collectively as the Nova Twins—made their dramatic entrance. They launched straight into “Black Roses,” a track from their newest album, setting the tone for a setlist that would pull heavily from Parasites & Butterflies but also feature fan favorites from their earlier work.
Though the performance wasn’t without hiccups—some technical issues briefly interrupted the flow—the band handled them with humor and grace. Joking that they were “cursed” in Germany due to past tech troubles, the Nova Twins quickly regained momentum. The crowd, completely engrossed, seemed unfazed and continued to feed off the duo’s unrelenting energy.
A standout moment came near the end of the set when both Amy and Georgia left the stage and joined the crowd, turning the space into a shared celebration of music and energy. It was a powerful moment of connection that further reinforced the band’s reputation for dynamic, boundary-pushing performances.
After a brief break, the encore brought the intensity back full force. They launched into “Antagonist,” a track that encouraged the audience to give everything they had left. The finale, “Glory,” began on a more restrained note but gradually built into a powerful climax—ending the night on an emotionally and sonically high note.
The Nova Twins left no doubt in anyone’s mind that they are one of the most exciting acts in the current rock landscape. From start to finish, their Berlin performance was a fierce, unrelenting ride that left the audience exhilarated, satisfied, and eager for more.
