The British alternative rockers White Lies stopped on their Night Light Tour to promote their latest album at Neukölln’s Huxley’s Neue Welt in Berlin for a sold-out show, with support from Like Elephants.

The evening started with the indie pop quartet Like Elephants from Austria, filling the room with their atmospheric and dreamy melodies. They showed off their dream pop–inspired soundscapes, along with ’80s new wave and post-punk influences, and quickly got the audience going, as the stage was enveloped in smoke and saturated colors. During their set, the venue quickly filled up, and soon it was a sea of fans with barely any room to move around.

Once it was time for White Lies, the room went dark, the music stopped, and the crowd fell silent before erupting into energetic cheers. The trio entered the stage and delivered contagious energy from the first note of “All the Best.” They continued strongly with “Farewell to the Fairground,” one of their biggest fan-favorite songs, making it hard to focus on taking photos instead of joining the crowd in singing and dancing along.

Drawing from their debut album To Lose My Life…, which helped them achieve an international breakthrough right away in 2009, and with the main focus on their latest release Night Light, they also included a variety of songs from across their entire discography. From “My Lover” (Night Light) to “Tokyo” (Five) and “There Goes Our Love Again” (Big TV), they gave their fans no break between singing and dancing, while showcasing the evolution of their sound and still keeping their ’80s synth-pop elements, gothic flair, and dance vibes.

Keeping up the pace, they ended the main set on a high note, with Harry McVeigh’s remarkable voice echoing through the room during “To Lose My Life” and “Bigger Than Us,” two of their biggest songs and absolute fan favorites. There was no holding back.

They returned with a three-song encore, featuring two new tracks and “Death,” also taken from To Lose My Life…. They sent the fans into the night with “In the Middle,” leaving them wanting more.
