On the evening of September 4, 2025, Twin Towers: Legacy premiered to about 300 NYPD officers, families plus a few very special guests most of which are serving or have served in one of the greatest cities in the world, New York. The Vigiano’s, like most of the country, had to bear silent witness to the horrifying events playing out through phone calls as well as Television news September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks seared in their memories. Twin Towers: Legacy allows the audience to meet or catch up with the Vigiano family as the move forward after one of their own gave his life that day (officer Joe Vigiano, whose story is told in the Oscar®-winning 2003 short-subject documentary Twin Towers), and how their journey through life without their beloved father and husband still affects them two decades later. Featuring Joe’s wife, Kathy, and their children, the film shows how Joe’s legacy of strength, respect, and honor has been passed down to his incredible three sons Joe, Jimmy and John. The oldest two followed in their father’s footsteps to become NYPD officers at the 75thprecinct where their parents met. Their youngest son currently is proudly serving in the Marine Corps. Twin Towers: Legacy is directed and produced by Oscar® winner Robert Port, produced by Rick Dugdale and executive produced by John Lennox, Barry Booker, Stan Weitlieb along with Maury Povich. Lionsgate with Grindstone will be releasing this film on VOD for $5.99 and on Digital for SRP $6.99 this September 9th.

Twin Towers: Legacy is a follow-up to Bill Guttentag and Robert Port’s 2003 Oscar®-winning best documentary short form Twin Towers about NYPD Detective Joe Vigiano, who gave his life as a 9/11 first responder in the elite NYPD Emergency Services Unit. At the time of his tragic death, Joe left behind a widow and three small children. Twin Towers: Legacy follows the journey of those children – now men – and their call to serve and protect to honor their father. The older two sons are sworn officers of the NYPD ESU 75th precinct, which is the same command where their parents met and served side by side. Joe and Kathy’s youngest child is currently serving in with the United States of America’s Marine Corps.
