TYLA RELEASES “JUMP” MUSIC VIDEO CO-STARRING GUNNA & SKILLIBENG!

Tyla’s explosive recent run continues, as the music video for the fan-favorite “Jump”, the Gunna and Skillibeng collaboration featured on her debut album, officially releases. The video, directed by NABIL, features the three artists traversing the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa, of which Tyla is a proud native. The video is directed by NABIL and features a never-before-heard verse from Skillibeng, who hails from Kingston, Jamaica, and was stationed there for the video.

Immediately following the March release of Tyla’s self-titled first studio album, Tyla, fans erupted on social media in support of “Jump,” the standout posse cut starring Atlanta’s Gunna and Jamaican dancehall star Skillibeng. The hype has generated nearly 5 billion TikTok views and nearly 2 million creates, and today fans’ support is rewarded as the three stars fuse their energies with unsurprising ease in the new video.

Tyla, set in the comfort zone of the Hillbrow neighborhood of Joburg and the neighboring Kliptown, exudes the aura of burgeoning superstardom as she and her friends dance through exhilarating scenes of organized chaos, which include a fight spilling into their hangout and dance parties breaking out on the balconies of nearby residences. The cinema sphere is provided by the inimitable NABIL, also the architect of Tyla’s video for “Truth Or Dare,” which nears 20 million views since its February release.

The arrival of the “Jump” video coincides with its spike in chart performance. The Sammy Soso-produced record has accumulated 75 million streams worldwide thus far, currently sits at #1 on UK Afro Beat chart since release and has now reached a peak of #3 on the US Billboard Afrobeat Chart, joining “Water”—which continues to hold down the #1 spot. Concurrently “Truth Or Dare” and “Art” sit at #5-6, and Tyla’s Tems collaboration, “No. 1,” completes the current Top 10 placements at #8. The strong Top 5 positioning of “Truth Or Dare” comes at a fortuitous time for Tyla, who has just experienced the coveted Gen-Z rite of passage of receiving her own “challenge emote” for the song in the globally dominant Fortnite video game.

The success of these records followed the meteoric rise of “Water,” which needs no introduction. The GRAMMY-winning song, now certified double-platinum by the RIAA, began the momentum that has led to these hit follow-ups from Tyla, who became the highest-charting African female soloist on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart when Tyla released and earned a Top 25 U.S. debut.

As the year progresses, Tyla’s stature and profile only grows with her musical popularity. She was just nominated for four awards at the 2024 BET Awards including the highly coveted Best New Artist category. Recently, she’s covered New York Times T StyleCosmopolitanBillboard and Numero Netherlands magazines thus far this year and provided a major highlight while wearing Balmain at her Met Gala debut earlier this month. The appearance went viral shutting down the internet while earning top billing media coverage from global news media including VogueCNN, Good Morning AmericaVanity Fair, The Hollywood Reporter and more. The commotion has piqued the interest of the fashion world at-large, a world to which Tyla has much more to offer.
