Volvo Car USA reports third quarter 2026 sales
Volvo Car USA reported sales of 23,766 vehicles for the third quarter of 2026, down 8.7 percent year over year, as weaker consumer sentiment, increased SUV competition and softer electrified-vehicle demand weighed on results. Electrified vehicles, defined as vehicles with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain, accounted for 31 percent of total U.S. sales in the quarter. Sales of electrified vehicles declined 12.9 percent compared to the same period last year.
Third quarter highlights:
- The award-winning XC90 and best-selling XC60 both delivered year-over-year growth in Q3, their second straight quarter of gains.
- Volvo Cars announced the new XC60 and XC90 Long range Plug-in hybrids, offering the longest electric range of any plug-in hybrids of 78 and 73 miles available in the United States, and the new XC40 with refreshed styling and advanced safety features for the brand’s subcompact SUV.
“Our third quarter results reflect the continued strength of Volvo Cars’ core SUV lineup in a competitive market,” said Luis Rezende, President, Volvo Car Americas. “With continued customer interest in the XC60 and XC90, and the introduction of our longest-range plug-in hybrids, we remain focused on giving customers the flexibility, safety and capability they expect from Volvo as we continue our journey toward a fully electric future.”
