Multi-platinum Grammy-nominated rapper Wale released his highly-anticipated, eighth studio album everything is a lot. via Def Jam Recordings. Wale’s most introspective project yet, the 18-track album marks a deeply vulnerable chapter in Wale’s storied career, delivering a body of work that unpacks mental health, self-discovery, and personal growth.

From the moment everything is a lot. begins, Wale invites listeners into a world shaped by dualities – fame and solitude, ambition and doubt, love and loss. On “Conundrum,” he opens the project in a stream of consciousness flow that sets the tone for the open journey ahead, confronting the weight of expectation and the pressure to stay grounded amid chaos. With “Belly,” Wale reinterprets Soul II Soul’s beloved “Back to Life” through his own lens, merging classic R&B soulfulness with modern reflection and touching on the complexities of family, fame, and fortune.

“YSF” (You So Fine), featuring Nigerian stars Seyi Vibez and Teni the Entertainer, serves as a vibrant and seamless fusion of Afrobeat rhythm and Wale’s sharp lyricism that embodies the project’s global appeal. The cross-continental synergy continues with some of Nigeria’s most compelling voices on “Big Head” with Odumodublvck and “City On Fire” with rising R&B star Odeal, where Wale bridges his poetic flow with the energy of a new wave of African artistry. everything is a lot. simultaneously pays homage to R&B’s timeless legacy, bridging icons both new and legendary with collaborations like “Watching Us” featuring 2025 Best New Artist Grammy nominee Leon Thomas, and “Survive” with Grammy Award winner Ty Dolla $ign and rapper Nino Paid. The project closes on a candid note with “Lonely” featuring alt-country artist Shaboozey – a stripped-back reflection on isolation and the pursuit of peace in a world where everything can feel like a lot.

Describing the inspiration of the album title, Wale shares, “I called it everything is a lot. because that’s exactly how life feels sometimes. But even in the madness, there’s meaning. This project follows me as I find peace in the noise, reconnect with my roots, and remind myself that heaviness is a part of growth.”

Fans have been highly anticipating this album since March when Wale began his slew of single releases. He began the EIA wave with the soul-bearing lead single “Blanco” and later released “Where to Start,” which samples the classic R&B/Soul hit “I’m So Into You” (1992) by American R&B vocal trio SWV. Wale’s third single “Mirroronnabenz” featured the genre-bending sounds of chart-topping producer and songwriter BNYXand his final single “City on Fire” featuring Odeal.

With everything is a lot., Wale reaffirms his place as one of hip-hop’s most thoughtful voices – an artist unafraid to wrestle with contradiction, vulnerability, and growth. Spanning continents and cultures, the album stands as a sonic bridge between Wale’s Nigerian roots and his D.C. foundation, weaving a story that’s both deeply personal and universally human. everything is a lot. is a reminder that evolution often comes with turbulence, and that sometimes, acknowledging the weight of it all is the first step toward lightness.
