HEIDI PARTON, SHELLEY RENÁ & JADA STAR UNITE FOR “TRUE BLUE”, A FAMILY TRIBUTE TO DOLLY PARTON’S TIMELESS LOVE SONG
Heidi Parton, Shelley Rená, and Jada Star, cousins and longtime singers and performers, have joined forces for their rendition of the Dolly Parton deep cut “True Blue” which is out now via Owepar Entertainment.
“True Blue” first appeared on Dolly Parton’s 1994 album Heartsongs: Live From Home, recorded live at Dollywood. Now, this new rendition brings the song full circle and returns home through Heidi, Shelley, and Jada, three cousins who perform on those very same Dollywood stages themselves. A fitting release for a musical family.
Whether heard as a love song, a tribute to a lifelong friendship, or a portrait of enduring devotion, “True Blue” takes on new meaning in the hands of the three cousins.
“‘True Blue’ is the perfect song for our first official cousin collaboration as a trio, because we have so much love for each other and our family,” Heidi shares. “Shelley and Jada, at this point, are basically my sisters, and this song truly embodies the love we share from the decades we’ve had together at family dinners and on Dollywood stages alike. We have a whole lot of love, and we want to share that with this release.”
The trio’s voices blend seamlessly with production featuring fingerpicked guitars and a driving piano, paying homage to the beloved 1994 live version while giving the song a fresh, contemporary lift. Heidi takes the vocal lead, with Shelley anchoring as the alto and Jada as the soprano, adding a full, rich sound to the heartfelt lyrics: “True love, so hard to find, knows no boundaries // It is gentle and it’s sweet, giving and forgiving.”
“True Blue” isn’t the first time the three cousins have collaborated on a project, as they all contributed to the 2024 family album, Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables, featuring Heidi on “A Rose Won’t Fix It,” Shelley on “Not Bad,” and Jada on “The Orchard.” With this latest release, the musical family invites fans back into the world of their shared love for one another and the songs they create.
