WHATMORE DROP NEW SINGLE “BOMBAY (KEEP IT ALIVE)”
WHATMORE have officially released their latest single, “bombay (keep it alive)”, which premiered on The Zane Lowe Show. The track marks the fifth release from the collective’s highly anticipated debut album, WHATMORE, out October 17.
“bombay (keep it alive)” sees WHATMORE leaning back into their hip-hop roots, opening with Yoshi T’s reflective verse about a past lover and his confidence that she’ll never find someone like him. Jackson August’s smooth vocals glide over lush synths and soulful organ chords on the chorus, offering a brief moment of stillness before a swinging drum break lifts the energy. The rest of the group follows with love-tinged verses that romanticize the connections they long for.
Earlier this week, the group announced that they’ll be joining Laundry Day as direct support on The Time of Your Life Tour, which kicks off October 21 in Boston and wraps up November 14 with a hometown show at NYC’s Webster Hall. Along with the single’s release, the group also shared Elijah Judah’s INTRO video vignette, in which he reflects on his struggles with being in front of the camera, the group’s ongoing breakout run, and his mission to give back to his mom for everything she’s sacrificed for him.
Composed of Cisco Swank, Yoshi T., Jackson August, Sebastiano, and Elijah Judah, WHATMORE is a five-piece collective redefining the edges of hip-hop, alt-R&B, and indie rock. The group first came together at LaGuardia High School, bonding over a shared love of music that grew through countless DIY shows across New York City’s downtown and Brooklyn scenes.
