WILLOW RELEASES NEW ALBUM empathogen
WILLOW releases her highly anticipated sixth studio album empathogen via Three Six Zero Recordings and gamma. Preceded by singles “symptom of life” and “b ig f e e l i n g s,” empathogen is an album that embraces tension – light and dark, free-spiritedness, playfulness, and depth.
Where WILLOW‘s previous two albums tackled topics like anxiety and paranoia through chunky guitar riffs and rockstar prowess, empathogen sees the young artist tackle the next part of her journey, healing and becoming a fuller version of her most authentic self. empathogen is equipped with the tools that have poured into her path – ancestral energy, a meditative mix of jazz, and powerful conversations. Features from Jon Batiste on “home” and St. Vincent on “pain for fun” drive home the album’s bent towards technical musicianship and pushing musical boundaries. WILLOW speaks of Batiste as “explosive,” and “methodical,” and St. Vincent as “a visionary.” She recently joined Batiste on stage during Weekend 1 of his Coachella set for a surprise performance together.
WILLOW’s distinguished talent was on full display earlier this week as we got a glimpse of her performing some of the new songs for the first time in her “Tiny Desk”.
The performance includes “symptom of life,” “b i g f e e l i n g s”, “run!,” “split,” and fan favorite “Wait a Minute.”
