1010benja shares new single “I Can”
1010benja returns to share another track from his debut album, Ten Total, out March 22 via Three Six Zero Recordings. “I Can” is a track that has been floating around since 2020, which Pitchfork noted in their Rising profile is “inspired in part by the Christian band DC Talk (and) crunches and bursts like an alternate-dimension ‘90s alt-rock staple, all the way down to it’s erupting guitar solo.” “I Can” follows Ten Total’s previously released singles “H2HAVEYOU” and “Peacekeeper.” Speaking on the track, 1010 shares “All of the longing, all of the changes and phases. Looking back is a heartache, looking ahead is a mystery to me. It’s summer or maybe late spring, there’s a party going on near here, and I miss you.”
Ten Total is the long-awaited debut album from the Tulsa-born singer-songwriter and producer. 1010’s work revels in the unexpressed, oft-misunderstood nuances of Midwestern America: televangelism, megachurches, the isolation of individualism, desperation and loneliness, self-education, impassable gulfs of longing, belief in the impossible, the price of freedom, slow economies, and hidden histories.
