“10MIL MARIPOSAS” BY KEVIN AGUILAR: THE NORTHERN SIDE OF FIRST LOVE
Kevin Aguilar, considered the greatest young promise of Mexican music, once again showcases his immense artistic talent with his latest single “10mil Mariposas,” through which he expands his narrative exploration of life’s first great loves. The song also allows us to enjoy his voice in a new style: norteño. “10mil Mariposas” highlights the accordion, bajo quinto, electro-acoustic guitars, and drums, achieving a sound that takes us to the very heart of regional Mexican music.
At just 14 years old, the 2024 Latin GRAMMY nominee for Best New Artist, and still a high school student, experienced Cupid’s arrow. “10mil Mariposas” is a composition made to connect with the innocence of love, to remind us that love has no age, and to dedicate to that special person who makes our hearts race as if we were still kids. “It’s dedicated to a girl who made me feel butterflies in my stomach; I wrote it with my friends,” says the young Mexican singer and songwriter.
The single is accompanied by a music video set inside a real tailor shop in Mexico City, “a space we created for the audience and where we had so much fun,” the performer says with a smile.
The release of “10mil Mariposas” comes at a key moment in Kevin’s career. He has already performed at several of the country’s most iconic venues alongside leading figures in Mexican music, such as earlier this year during the Entre amigos tour, where he sang with four greats in a single night: Lucero, Yuri, Emmanuel y Mijares.
Likewise, at the Lunario of the National Auditorium this past August 1, he was invited by “El Plan” to perform “Pero Te Vas A Arrepentir” together, surprising the audience who gathered at the venue to experience a collaboration full of energy and nostalgia.
The Mexican star fulfilled another of his dreams on August 9 when he once again took the stage at the National Auditorium, this time to sing the classic “Te Voy A Amar” with norteño legend Bobby Pulido, in a new display of versatility, sensitivity, and connection with the audience.
Without a doubt, Kevin Aguilar’s talent is destined to become a benchmark of traditional Mexican music, as confirmed by his recent nomination in the category “New Generation – Mexican Music” at the upcoming Premios Juventud 2025, one of the most important recognitions in Latin culture.
On this occasion, the category in which Kevin will participate is designed to highlight the talents who are shaping the future of Regional music. Alongside the young artist from the State of Mexico, we can find names such as Camila Fernández, Clave Especial, Esaú Ortiz, Línea Personal, Calle 24, Macario Martínez, Netón Vega, Tito Double P, and Victor Mendívil.
