21 LIL HAROLD NEW SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO “GIN AND JUICE” FEAT BIGXTHAPLUG OUT NOW
21 Lil Harold continues to build his momentum with the release of his new music video, “Gin and Juice”, featuring Dallas standout BigXThaPlug. The new single and music video follows the successful release of the J.I.D. – featured “Sundown” which quickly kicked Lil Harold’s year into gear, and whet his fans’ appetites for his forthcoming project.
On “Gin and Juice”, produced by BandPlay, 21 Lil Harold once again eschews the 808s-heavy trap ethos frequently occupied by the Slaughter gang collective he represents, opting instead for an instrumental-driven backdrop that he and BigX slide over effortlessly. “Fuck the club, it ain’t fun if I can’t come with my F-N,” Harold raps chillingly, juxtaposing the spoils of his ascendant life and career with the cold realities of his environment.
BigXThaPlug, the Dallas native who rose to national prominence last year after a steady ascent on the independent circuit, meshes well with Harold, delivering his verse with his trademark deliberation, making sure to stay within the beat’s methodical pockets.
“Gin and Juice” arrives along with its Jerry BullsEye Productions x Diamond Visuals -directed music video, which depicts Harold and BigX in the early stages of a nighttime house party. The video is a recreation of the original Snoop Dogg’s Gin and Juice video. After Harold rides through local streets with the viewer, BigX announces his arrival with two gigantic bottles of gin, a fun callback to the record’s theme.
21 Lil Harold has been steadily developing his artistic persona, and in 2024, it looks to come into full view. “Sundown,” his previous single, earned a placement on Spotify’s coveted Viral 50 Chart, which identifies the hottest songs being engaged with and discussed on the service and social media.
Harold is seeking to build off of a strong 2023, which included a career-best streaming performance with the 21 Savage-featured “After The Curse,” and an appearance as an opening act for 21 Savage’s homecoming show in London. With “Sundown” and now “Gin and Juice” in circulation, Harold will have his share of material to perform when he rejoins Savage and the rest of the Slaughterhouse crew in Texas for this year’s SXSW, where the collective will play multiple stages. As Lyrical Lemonade puts it, Harold is “looking like the artist that has the necessary charisma, talent, and connections required to succeed in his cutthroat market,” and upcoming records like “Gin & Juice ft BigxThaPlug releasing this week are clear indicators of why.
