The line was filled with excited fans ready to sing and dance the night away to some of their favorite bands. On the floor level of Tabernacle, people were standing in line to purchase their Nothing More merchandise before the show. There were fans who drove five hours to see Post Profit, From Ashes to New, Set it Off and headliner Nothing More live. I overheard a fan discussing arriving at the venue just after midday to get a good spot.

The first band Post Profit is based in Texas. Vocalist Matt Jackson advised the crowd to “get down and shake like an earth earthquake.” They ended their set by requesting absolute chaos and opening a mosh pit for their last number “Cancel Culture.” Vocalist Matt Jackson joined the crowd as he surfed across the front rows. “They were very good, surprisingly good.” Fans who once slept on Post Profit were now awake, and anxious to add their music to their playlists for the ride home.

The second act, From Ashes to New, embraced a triumphant theme as they kicked off their set, reassuring the crowd that pre-show inconveniences wouldn’t hinder their performance. They motivated fans to leave all their troubles behind, declaring, “The demons die tonight.” Their song “Barely Breathing” showcased a dynamic contrast between rapid, lyrical verses and powerful, belted hooks. Founder Matt Brandyberry added a poignant touch by asking fans to hold their cell phone lights aloft, symbolizing the challenges and hardships overcome in 2020. The energy and resilience in the air were palpable, making it a memorable and inspiring performance for everyone present.

The crowd enthusiastically sang along to Set it Off’s “The Haunting,” creating an electrifying atmosphere. As the band launched into “Evil People,” one mosh pit quickly expanded into two, fueled by chilling whispers and high-energy yells. The intensity of the performance was palpable. For the final song, “Insomniac,” the drummer and vocalist swapped roles, adding a unique twist to the show. The audience waved their hands in unison, signaling their agreement with the song’s sentiment that they’d all sleep when they were dead. The energy in the venue was undeniable, making it a memorable night for everyone involved.

The atmosphere was electric as the crowd enthusiastically sang along to Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Suddenly, the house lights dimmed, and the venue was plunged into darkness. The audience erupted in cheers, their excitement palpable as they eagerly awaited the headliner, Nothing More. The band kicked off their set with “House on Sand,” and the lights began to flash sporadically, adding to the intensity of the moment. Beers were raised high as fans joined in the singing. Shirtless, lead vocalist Johnny Hawkins extended the microphone towards the crowd, inviting them to sing along. Every floor of The Tabernacle was alive with energy, and the concert maintained this high level of enthusiasm for over five hours, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone present.
