The six-track body of work spotlights his magnetic songcraft and multi-faceted melodic sensibility. Sparks fly from the friction between sparse acoustic guitar and his gritty cadence on the standout “CRY FOR YOU.” He looks back in the rearview mirror at a fractured relationship, going on to accept, “You’re the kind of blessing that turns into a curse.” He picks up and confidently walks away by the time the chorus comes around, “I’ve got nothing left to say, and I won’t cry for you.” Then, there’s “LIGHTS BACK ON.” Softly strummed chords echo, and a loose bassline locks down the tempo. It culminates on a luminously catchy hook, “Turn the lights back on…all the way on…I ain’t gonna leave until the pain’s all gone.” He simply shines across the EP.
He set the stage for its arrival with “OVER AGAIN.” In its wake, The New York Times profiled Nunez and christened him, “The basketball star who accidentally became a country heartthrob,” going on to assure, “he had a gift for singing.” So far, “OVER AGAIN” has gathered over 1.2 million Spotify streams and counting.
Plus, DON’T WANNA GO HOME boasts “808s & 6 STRINGS“, “WILD,” and “DON’T WANNA GO HOME”—which Celeb Secrets hailed as a “sun-kissed antidote to nine-to-five burnout.” In advance of its release, tracks from the EP generated nearly 30 million streams and counting. Moreover, his recent DON’T WANNA HOME Tour, played to sold-out crowds from coast-to-coast.
In 2025, Nunez released the LOW ROAD EP. Among many highlights, the title track “LOW ROAD” featuring Avery Anna has gathered over 33 million streams to date followed by “ALL I EVER DO” with 11 million streams. Meanwhile, the artist himself has earned widespread acclaim. Melodic Magazine declared, “Adrien Nunez is a triple threat with a successful career in basketball at the University of Michigan, social media, and music.” Shazam dubbed him one of its “Fast Forward 2025 Artists,” and Holler Country praised his set at C2C Berlin 2025, noting that “the country-folk prodigy showcased his ear for a killer hook.”
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Adrien Nunez made his name as an NCAA basketball star for the University of Michigan before turning back to his original passion — music. He took the internet by storm last year by giving country artists a unique platform to showcase their songs via his various channels, while also offering fans an avenue to discover their new favorite artists. The social media launch of his own artist project accumulated over 50 million views across platforms in the first weekend and over 5 million streams in the two weeks, bringing in over 250,000 new TikTok fans.
After stepping into 2025 as one of Amazon Music’s Country Heat Artists to Watch, Nunez joined Myles Smith on a UK/Europe tour that included headlining dates before launching his own successful U.S. run.
