AQYILA RELEASES SELF-RENEWAL ANTHEM “SOAR”
Hot on the heels of her second JUNO Award win and the release of her critically acclaimed debut album Falling Into Place, Canadian R&B star Aqyila releases “Soar”, the final track on the new album.
By now, the critics have spoken, and fans are taking notice. Falling Into Place is “a formidable introduction – one that presents a self-assured star with near-limitless potential” (Billboard). With this release, Aqyila “[cements] herself among the genre’s greats” (BET) and is a true “international phenom we can’t get enough of” (Vibe). With “Soar,” Aqyila gives fans the final pièce de résistance that pulls the project together, featuring the heartfelt songwriting, layered vocals, and infectious melody that has made Aqyila an unstoppable force in contemporary R&B.
Co-written by Aqyila and Maya J’an B (“Bloom”), and produced by Charlie Coffeen (The Weeknd, Rae Sremmurd), “Soar” is an assured track from an accomplished artist. “‘Soar’ puts the final touch on this body of work,” says Aqyila, “and this felt like the perfect gift to fans, and perfect way to present this total project. In 2024, Aqyila earned a JUNO Award for ‘Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year’ for her song “Hello”; achieved viral success with “Bloom”; and released “Most Wanted,” which included collaborations with Nike and Tribal Carnival. She also presented at the Legacy Awards, performed both in Canada and abroad—including a set at UK singer Mahalia’s “Mahalia Presents” series at the iconic Jazz Café in Camden, London—and headlined her first sold-out show in her hometown of Toronto.
The momentum accelerated in 2025. Aqyila completed a North American tour supporting Pink Sweat$ and earned two JUNO nominations: ‘Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year’ for “Limbo” and ‘Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year’ for “Bloom,” for which she won a JUNO. She also performed at the JUNO Awards broadcast, to great acclaim.
She continues her incredible year, with the release of “Soar,” the release of the Falling Into Place vinyl in May (pre-order here), and various summer festival dates.
