Arima Ederra shares new single & music video “Heard What You Said”
LA-based musician Arima Ederra shares her first offering of new music this year with new single “Heard What You Said”. The song, produced by collaborative partner and renowned producer Teo Halm (SZA, Rosalía, Omar Apollo), serves as a hypnotic opening to the next chapter of her career. Arima’s voice ripples through the track from her opening line “You could never know me”, intertwined with the fuzzy, warm tones of guitar. The intricately-crafted visual counterpart of “Heard What You Said”, directed by Jesse Crankson & Jake-Isaac Elwin, with creative direction by obsolete, draws on the disillusionment of falling out of touch with someone dear and the unforgiving role time plays in that separation.
“The song delves into the strange grief of losing someone who was never really there,” Arima explains. “When shared memories become questions and years of connection dissolve into misunderstanding.”
Arima closed out 2024 touring North America alongside Ravyn Lenae and releasing a pair of songs, “Oh God” featuring Mereba and “Really Tired”. The two tracks were co-produced by Teo Halm and Arima, and offered a brief respite from the pent-up emotions and anxieties of a tumultuous year. Both tracks marked a return for Arima, as her first offering of new solo music since her critically acclaimed debut album An Orange Colored Day, released in 2022. The album, which NPR described as “a weightless form of R&B that simmers in the ether like incense”, was honed over four years of work behind the scenes to solidify her direction as an artist. Now, Arima is entering a new phase of her career, brimming with confidence and a resolute sense of where her music is meant to take her.
