BISHOP BRIGGS, TASH SULTANA, LILY MEOLA, NIGHTLY, AND LEONIE BINEY COME TOGETHER FOR THE PLANET WITH POWERFUL EP ‘INSPIRED BY JANE’ OUT NOW
Just in time for Earth Day, Platoon celebrates the release of the powerful companion EP for Apple TV+’s live-action children’s series Jane. Inspired By Jane, available on all streaming platforms today, features five original empowering tracks by Bishop Briggs, Tash Sultana, Lily Meola, Nightly, and Leonie Biney. Released alongside the show’s third season, Inspired By Jane brings together an incredible lineup of artists to honor the Earth through music.
The EP opens with Bishop Briggs’ “In Your Eyes,” a touching anthem honoring the special bond between humans and their fellow creatures. “I’m so excited to be a part of this project. I’m such a huge forever fan of Dr. Jane Goodall. To be able to be a part of something like this that honors her in such a specific way, has been such a big, important moment in my musical life and career,” states Briggs.
“Endless Day” by Leonie Biney is a serene, vocal-driven track celebrating the beauty of nature. Inspired in part by her mom—whose birthday falls on Earth Day—Biney shares, “When I told her about this opportunity, she said, ‘You have to do it.’ So I did it for her, but also because I care deeply about our Earth. We only have one planet, and I believe we should take care of it.
Lily Meola also shares the similar sentiment, “Without this place we wouldn’t have a home, and I think we sometimes take that for granted. We should start treating every day like Earth Day.” Her song “Welcome Home” adds a country twist to the album, featuring steel-guitar as she reflects on the breathtaking beauty of the planet.
Nightly’s alt-pop infused “Everything Can Change” that shares the importance of uniting to make a difference in the world. The band, who have worked with organizations such as Charity Water along with animal rescue centers, continue to monitor their personal footprint on the planet, saying, “On our last album, we used vinyls that were made from other vinyls that were otherwise going to be thrown out, and combined them together to make interesting and unique colors. There are always creative ways that you can do stuff to help protect and preserve the environment.”
The album closes with “Ride,” an invigorating offering from Tash Sultana. They share, “As a musician and a lover of the ocean (I am also a surfer), I feel particularly compassionate about protecting our reefs and protecting our oceans. You don’t really have to go that far to see the devastation cast from human negligence. Our reefs all over the world are dying and we are overfishing our oceans. It needs to stop.”
Jane, inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall and her renowned research and conservation efforts, follows a budding environmentalist on a mission to save our planet’s endangered species. Therefore, it was only fitting that the accompanying EP consist of artists who are encouraging action to preserve the environment and its animals. The third season of Jane will be available April 18th on Apple TV+.
