Who’s got the World Cup fever? Shakira shouts into the sold-out TD Garden arena on her first night in the host city of the World Cup. With Boston already buzzing as a home base for the world’s biggest sporting event, it seemed like the city’s energy couldn’t be raised any higher as a World Cup destination. That is, until Shakira arrived, full of electrifying energy and ready for a performance jam-packed with costume changes, belly dancing, and an incredible production level that was difficult to top. From performing her hit song “Waka Waka” to the official 2026 World Cup song “Dai Dai”, the singer gave Boston a thrilling preview of the electric atmosphere expected from a World Cup halftime show.

The show began with Shakira emerging through the crowd to take the stage, surprising fans in a look she debuted at “Todo Mundo No Rio”. This was the first time since its debut that Shakira had appeared in the crystallized jumpsuit, featuring a stunning green and blue paisley design. This look was only a taste of the impeccable fashion and plethora of costume changes to come throughout the show. Dressed in colorful, flattering bodysuits, elegant dresses, and sparkles galore, the “She Wolf” maintained an ethereal and captivating presence, drawing eyes and mesmerizing the crowd throughout the night with her movements.

Massive LED screens transformed into surreal digital landscapes filled with futuristic, AI-inspired visuals and hypnotic animations. In one act, a giant 3D hand stretched toward the audience, revealing a realistic beating heart. In another, an animated Shakira blew smoke into the audience, and when it dissolved, Shakira rose onto the stage. In between many of the acts, the animated Shakira was seen dancing and talking with the audience as lasers and strobes cascaded through the crowd. Not to mention, synchronized light-up bracelets glowed throughout the arena in tandem, adding another layer to the show’s immersive production.

While the singer utilized many technological effects and techniques, she also incorporated classic and iconic elements of a live entertainment performance: pyro and flames that could be felt from the stands, background dancers dressed in tiger suits, an elevated stage with a trap door, and light-up swords, to name a few. The star of the show, however, came just as the concert drew to a close. As the arena lights dimmed and some audience members rushed toward the exits in hopes of beating post-concert traffic, the stage suddenly came alive once more. Rising from beneath it was an enormous 23-foot inflatable wolf that slowly unfolded before the crowd.

Its glowing, laser-like eyes scanned the audience as Shakira launched into “She Wolf” for one final electrifying performance, transforming the arena into a surreal, larger-than-life spectacle. The remarkable encore ended as one-hundred-dollar bills erupted into the arena, raining down over the crowd as Shakira delivered her final remarks. After thanking the Boston audience, Shakira descended beneath the stage, bringing an unforgettable night of music, dance, and spectacle to a close—until night two.
