Captivating Picture Parlour Unveils Debut EP ‘Face In The Picture’
PICTURE PARLOUR’S SOLD OUT EP RELEASE PARTY AT THIRD MAN RECORDS NEXT TUESDAY
Picture Parlour, the London-based, Northern-forged quartet, has launched their eagerly anticipated debut EP, ‘Face In The Picture’. A celebration of this release is set for next Tuesday with an exclusive EP release party at London’s Third Man Records, an event that sold out instantly upon ticket release last week. This distinctive rock ensemble made a significant impact last year with vibrant performances and supporting roles alongside both superstars and contemporaries alike, from Bruce Springsteen to their labelmates, The Last Dinner Party. After the release of their debut singles ‘Norwegian Wood’ and ‘Judgement Day’, an endorsement from Courtney Love, and unfounded “industry plant” accusations, Picture Parlour is shifting the focus back to what’s truly important: their remarkable music.
‘Face In The Picture’ is a four-track tribute to the band’s early days. As lead vocalist Katherine explains, “These songs needed to be shared as a tribute to the very first tunes we crafted together. It felt necessary to include them in the annals of Picture Parlour. The EP encapsulates who we were when we first met and the creative spark that our initial jam sessions kindled. Our aspiration for this EP was to create a body of work that exudes power, emotion, grit, and intensity, setting the stage for our future musical journey. We hope that all four tracks stir a wide range of emotions in our listeners, just as they did for us during their creation and even now when we perform them.”
Katherine’s previous ventures into filmmaking and the band’s shared love for the cinematic universes of David Lynch and Alejandro Jodorowsky led them to collaborate with sibling artist duo Will and Ed Reid. Together, they crafted the visual aesthetics surrounding the EP, including four videos, one for each track on the EP.
Picture Parlour, originally a duo consisting of singer-songwriter Katherine Parlour from Liverpool and guitarist Ella Risi from Yorkshire, began their journey during the pandemic, drawing inspiration from icons like Patti Smith and Nick Cave. Now a dynamic four-piece with the addition of bassist Sian Lynch and drummer Michael Nash, Picture Parlour never fails to mesmerize audiences, leaving a lasting impression long after the final note has been played.
Picture Parlour’s live performances have been making significant ripples, drawing parallels with pioneering acts and blending the vitality of The Smiths with the drama of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Their theatrical performances across South London and beyond have garnered widespread acclaim. Their concerts evoke a sense of nostalgia, transporting audiences back in time, while still retaining a modern edge.
