Chance the Rapper & Vic Mensa join King Promise on “Run To You”

Continuing on his mission to connect the diaspora, Chance The Rapper links up with Vic Mensa and Ghanian singer King Promise on “Run To You”. Since his first visit to Ghana in January 2022, the transformative trip has led Chance down a fast track of artistic creation and self-discovery. It was on this trip that Vic first introduced Chance to King Promise. The three artists bounced off one another’s energy and recorded “Run To You” that night in Accra. The music video features Chance’s signature style of displaying the lyrics on screen.

“Run To You” arrives following Chance and Vic’s announcement of their inaugural Black Star Line Festival. Taking place in Accra, Ghana on January 6, 2023, the festival serves as a mass global demonstration of Blackness, welcoming all persons worldwide to return home to the Continent and experience a day filled with music, art, education and reconnection to the motherland. The festival title’s origins were inspired by civil rights leader Marcus Garvey’s iconic Black Star Line. Founded in 1919, and operated by Black people, the line would link America, the Caribbean, and Africa, to global shipping and tourism opportunities. The Black Star Line was a symbol of pride, not only for Africans, but also for Black people in all ports of call. After nearly 40 years, the Ghanian government launched their fleet with the same name, in homage to Garvey, and even added a black star to the country’s new flag.

Chance the Rapper’s highly anticipated new project Star Line Gallery, a celebration of Black art and meditations on Black Life, is due out later this year.
