CHICAGO’S PREMIER HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE PIVOT GANG RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “LOCATION” AHEAD OF 2027 SOPHOMORE ALBUM
Chicago’s premier hip-hop collective Pivot Gang has officially returned with the release of “Location,” the infectious first single from their highly anticipated upcoming sophomore album due out early next year. Arriving alongside an official music video, “Location” signals the long-awaited return of “Chicago’s Boy Band”—comprising Saba, MFnMelo, Joseph Chilliams, Frsh Waters, and producer daedaePIVOT—marking their first full-length group endeavor since their critically acclaimed 2019 debut album, You Can’t Sit With Us.
Driven by a laid-back, infectious groove, “Location” blends smooth, laid-back melodic hooks with the group’s signature rapid-fire, technical lyricism. Built around a sun-drenched, low-key rhythm and smooth vocal harmonies, the track finds the members trading sharp, character-driven verses about effortless connection, high-energy loyalty, and staying grounded amid the chaos.
With “Location,” Pivot Gang introduces PIVOT-TV, an immersive, multi-platform world built directly around the group’s distinct personalities, signature humor, and unmistakable brotherly chemistry.
The group also recently announced that John Walt Day will return to Chicago on December 19 at Thalia Hall. The lineup features the first live performance of Pivot Gang’s new single, special surprise guests, as well as a 10-year celebration of Saba’s Bucket List Project. While “Location” launches the next creative chapter for Pivot Gang, they will continue to honor the foundation and legacy of late founding members John Walt and SqueakPIVOT. Purchase tickets here.
Pivot Gang first established themselves as one of independent music’s most formidable acts with You Can’t Sit With Us, earning praise across the board from Pitchfork, Complex, The FADER, XXL, and Rolling Stone, followed by a sold-out North American headline tour. Their upcoming album, slated for release early next year, promises to build on that foundation with heightened production, refined synergy, and unmatched collaborative energy.
