CHRIS PATRICK RELEASES PRAY 4 ME EP
Buzzing rapper and lyrical savant, Chris Patrick debuts his EP Pray 4 Me, a confession booth of ambition, fear, hunger, and hope – out now via Def Jam Recordings. The project marks Chris’s most vulnerable and determined chapter yet, peeling back the armor to reveal the grit it takes to climb toward the life he refuses to stop chasing.
Pray 4 Me threads together the emotional stakes of love, loss, fear, and ambition using each track as a testament to the pressure that forges an artist determined to rise above the fray. The EP features guest appearances from SwaVay, Amindi, Marco Plus, and more, each adding new contours to his lyrical world built on his inner reflections. He kicks off with “Ausar’s Prayer” – a monologue style intro of a prayer over Chris’s music journey from a loved one that sets the tone of the hustle Chris is pursuing throughout the project. It follows with launchpad singles from the EP “Ramen Noodles,” and “Frankenstein” (produced by GRAMMY Award winning producer Conductor Williams) – 2 separate reflections of Chris’s story capturing hunger in a physical, emotional, and artistic sense as he shares moments of heartbreak and desire while highlighting the obsessive discipline pushing him forward. Other standout tracks such as “The Mayor” ft. SwaVay with production credits from M-Tech (Kendrick Lamar, Ray Vaughn, Blxst) and “100x” with production credits from GRAMMY Award-winning producer Mike Hector (Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat, Leon Thomas) continues to illuminate Chris’s fluid artistry and accents the consistent themes of bravado, hustle, determination, and his obsessive drive toward success.
“Pray 4 Me is the culmination of being prepared for a peak moment regardless of when it comes. Once the popularity of my freestyle on Kai’s Mafiathon happened, I had to pull this EP together in 2 weeks on top of having a job and touring with JID all at once. I was barely sleeping but at the same time I was genuinely living through every single moment I prayed for,” said Chris. “This project embodies the lingering feeling of uncertainty while awaiting the success I’ve been working towards. I’ve missed out on important moments I can’t get back in my life at the cost of pursuing my music and seeing some of my wildest dreams come true.”
The EP arrives on the heels of Chris’s now viral 7-minute freestyle from Kai Cenat x On The Radar’s Mafiathon, where he poured raw passion and journal-deep introspection over Kendrick Lamar’s “Man At The Garden” instrumental. Kai Cenat dubbed it “the greatest freestyle of the whole [Mafiathon] month” while HotNewHipHop and Complex both gave it high praises which lead to Hip-Hop legend Nas saying “look out for [Chris].” Chris recently secured a slot as the opening act on J.I.D’s recent God Does Like Paradise Tour, further cementing the force of his momentum. His 2022 project X Files was widely beloved by fans and received praises from Pitchfork, Lyrical Lemonade, Complex, Our Generation Music, Wonderland Magazine and more for its genre-bending versatility and transparent candor. His The Calm mixtape in 2024 also notably earned a spot on Complex’s “Best Albums of 2024 (so far).”
Having toured with the likes of Travis Scott, Russ, J.I.D as well as receiving honorable nods from the likes Nas, J. Cole, EarthGang, Black Thought, Isaiah Rashad, and Joe Budden, Chris Patrick is poised to be the next king of the hip-hop throne.
