CLEAN BANDIT SELF-DIRECT & PRODUCE ALTERNATE VIDEO FOR ‘CRY BABY’ FOR RUGER’S REMIX
Following Friday’s release of the official remix of ‘Cry Baby’ with Nigerian star Ruger, the track’s Alternate Video is out now. The new video was directed, produced, and edited by Clean Bandit, as was the original music video which saw Ruger playing the lead character.
Grace Chatto of Clean Bandit said, “Ruger is one of my favourite artists, and has to be the busiest person I know, he’s literally in a different country every day: I’m so happy he came to our studio in London back in May, and that later we got to spend this amazing extended time making this music video, for which he rode and vaulted onto a horse in Wales (Brecon), Gloucestershire (Gotherington Station), scaled a huge waterfall, and even jumped through a fake glass window of the train that we built for the video! It was incredible, and the way he sings the verse is so beautiful. I think this is my favourite video we’ve ever made, and we may get to perform this song live together soon…”
Clean Bandit made their official return to music last month with ‘Cry Baby’, created with Anne-Marie and David Guetta. Last week, the Grammy-winning pop trio and Anne-Marie performed ‘Cry Baby’ on the launch show of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing – watch here.
‘Cry Baby’ marked the second collaboration between 8x Brit-nominated act Clean Bandit and Anne-Marie, following their internationally adored track ‘Rockabye’ with Sean Paul. The self-directed music video for ‘Rockabye’ is about to hit three billion views on YouTube, and the song is one of the four Clean Bandit tracks to hit over a billion Spotify streams, placing them in Spotify’s Billions Club four times. The only other UK bands to reach this milestone are Queen, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, and One Direction.
Clean Bandit began teasing their new music at the start of 2024 and featured on two Latin bangers earlier this Summer: ‘MAR AZUL’ with Colombian reggaeton giants Piso 21 & Jhosy, then ‘Lambo Sport’ with the Puerto Rican rapper Darell. This music was written during an extended writing trip in Miami at the start of this year. Grace recently appeared on the covers of Voir Magazine and Fault Magazine, speaking to both magazines about what fans can expect from their new era.
